Admiral Hackett

Mentioned earlier in my previous thread concerning Shep's trial, some people wonder if he will turn his back to us or help us.
I'm on the fence, but I think he would help us, even if it costs him his career... Hackett seems admirable enough.

But once Shepard goes on trial, expect silence.
That would be a big FU to the Hackett fans if that happens

When?
I still think it would be a big FU to fans if he doesn't support you in trial
I believe Hackett was the number one fan favorite for returning NPCs?

I expect Hackett to help at a certain extent, but he would use Shepard as a scapegoat if it suits his plans.
This right here.

Also
That part doesn't play if you haven't done the SM right?
I know for sure he doesn't say that after the SM
"Besides I'm not sure this is a Cerberus vessel anymore right?"
I'm a bit amazed at how people are reacting towards Hackett...I thought he was a fan favorite?

============
Hackett's put Shep in serious legal limbo and done it deliberatly.
1. Hackett's request to go rescue Kenson was presumbably encrypted and taken in private. If EDI did manage to record the transmission, the Alliance will take care of that while the Normady's in their hands back on Earth.
2. Hacket asked Shep to go alone -- no witnesses to back up Shep's story. In theory, those witnesses could have included an Asari Justicar or a distinguished former member of the Salarian STG.
3. Hackett takes the highly unusual step of going to the Normandy. Notice that Dr. Chakwas leaves and EDI shuts off in the sick bay. At the end, Hackett says "I don't need to see a report to know you did the right thing" and hands Shep's report back.
Nice show of confidence? Maybe.
The bare fact is that Hacket turned down the report. By refusing to take it with him, Hackett kept everything between him and Shep on a spoken-word only basis.
Bottom line: No formal record exists of any Hackett-Shep connection. There's no evidence that Shep didn't go out there on his/her own.
============
Even if Hackett does prove true in the end, he's a CYA pro.
Hackett and the Alliiance have plausible denial of any involvement. They can claim Kenson went out there on her own.
Weknow that Kenson was a "deep cover operative" and that only the Alliance could know where she was at until the Batarians captured her. However, the Alliance could now claim she went rogue and that "The Project" was funded by Cerberus, which sent Shep to finish the job when Kenson lost her nerve.
Whether any of this matters remains to be seen. ME3 producer Jesse Huston said that the Reapers arrive in Batarian space, so the chances are that the Batarians are devestated and that Shepard's warnings of an imminent threat are now proven.
Anyway, the point of the proceedings on Earth — trial, hearing, court martial, inquest, whatever — is not justice. It's political, like Tali's trial. Do we (the Alliance) or do we not need to make a sacrificial lamb of Shep to keep the edgy peace with the Batarians? Keep in mind that the Allliance Brass "descended like vultures, tearing apart every you said" about the Reaper threat. Hackett's could well be in the minority in believing there's a Reaper threat at all.

However, I must say that I think they ruined his character a bit when they revealed his appearance in Arrival DLC. I think that he would make for a much stronger character had they not revealed him. Much of this character's uniqueness was destroyed for me when I saw him make his appearance. But the voice... ohh that's just too great.
