I have a feeling since the Batarians are so easy to hate that the key to defeating the reapers is somehow going to involve the batarians in one way or another.

Quarians - There are only 17 million Quarians left.
Turians and Batarians would be next (I don't like them:devil:)

Thing with humans is....we rather go down with a bang then just surrender or let them conquer us. We would probably lunch every single future tech atomic bomb we had to detonate earth. Humans are ****ing nuts when the yare tied to a corner.

The asari, no contest. The are the greatest long term threat to human dominance on the galactic stage.

The Turians Asiari and Salarians but especially Batarians, they need to be brought down for humanity to survive as a sovereign lawful and independent nation, with being gutted by the reapers.

I seriously Doubt they'd even give us the batarians as a choice honestly I think I'd choose the Salarians. Other then there spying techniques they dont add much to the galaxy. Post war I'd work towards helping the Drell and the Geth and placing them in a position to replace the Salarians.

Most of these strikes me as a little callous, given that we're talking about the annihilation of an entire species, but ok.

I'll go with geth. Synthetic life can be recreated with a floppy disk and some scrap metal.

That's silly, as a human you are not going to sacrifice humanity ... try actually putting yourself into the character and situation for a second.

I'd say batrians, but I think they're already off the board. Krogans, possibly, as they are already a dying race and I chose not to try and cure the genophage in the second game. Maybe the Hanar, as they are the least human, and thus the least empathetic. Next come the Turians, because I hate them, and last the Elcor - again, because they are less human. (though, if Geth are an option, they are out the door - my Shepard still holds a grudge against the race after the first game)

I think from a roleplaying perspective having to choose that would pretty much break my paragon Shep's brain.

From a meta-gaming perspective... Asari, totally.

1) Yagh
2) Vorcha
3) Batarians (pretty sure they're all gone anyway since the Reapers entered their part of space first),
4) Volus

In that order.

Hmm...

Ash Shepard dislikes Asari so if given the opportunity he won't be helping them.

Motoko finds the Quarians annoying and will happily just let them get wiped out.

Jane has a major hatred for Turians, so she'll happily confirm reconfirm and elaborate further her answer to one of the Turian councillors questions from ME in ME3 if given the chance.

Turian Councillor: Do you take pleasure from committing genocide..
Jane Shepard: Ahh yes... *airquotes* genocide *close airquotes* the deliberate and systematic destruction, in whole or in part, of an ethnic, racial, religious, or national group, as I said before, it depends on the race... Turian! Joker close this channel.
*Normandy flies off as Palaven is destroyed*

A few others have an utter dislike for Batarians so if had opportunity will happily see any remaining ones dead if given the chance. Whereas of course there are some Shepards who would find it hard to bear if they were unable to save everyone... so yeah they're most likely going to be feeling pain because I think it's obvious we won't be able to.

Sacrificing all of humanity for the sake of other races does seem like something my Shepard would do if she really had to. (She did save the council even though it cost more people their lives).

Being the only human left and acquiring funds to restart the human race by cloning Shepard would also be pretty sweet. (1 Shepard for each planet would already reduce crime rates by a ton...)

Another option would be sacrificing the Asari... having the only Asari as your partner would make for another way to get that Shepard factor out there across the galaxy.

Asari, easily. While I love Aria and understand the artistic limitations, I'm not a fan of human-looking aliens.

The thing with the Asari, Turians, and Salarians is even if they lose their homeworlds they probably won't lose their civiliazations since all three probably have more colony worlds than anybody else and all three probably have colony worlds with large populations so unless they lose their colony worlds as well I imagine these three races will stay intact though depending on how hard they get hit the balance of galactic may shift after the war.

Toss up between Asari and Quarians... probably Quarians. Though if I can get Qwib Qwib aboard the Normandy beforehand awesome. I love that fop.

If we're forced to choose between Geth and Quarians the result will be the same anyway. I find the Geth too cute to exterminate.

If we have to choose a major race(by major i mean like the turians) to abandon for the sake of the galaxy who would you choose?

i have to go with the asari

Quarians.  They're degenerate trailer trash of the galaxy.  They also created the geth which are a hazard to the galaxy.
