That characters who get along seem to have the worst dialog. Wynne and Leliana.

Well, sometimes. Varric and Isabela are good.

Okay, now that I've concluded the entirely offtopic portion of my post , I'll give a real answer!

I guess Shale and Fenris would probably get along.

Shale and Fenris could build a pillow fort in Fenris' mansion with a paper sign that says "NO MAGES ALLOWED!!!           p.s. No pigeons >.<"

I think Anders and Morrigan would hit it off. Morrigan despises circle mages for being weak and allowing themselves to be led like sheep, to the point where she would gladly help execute them. Anders actions would merit respect in her eyes.

I think Anders would get along with Zevran as well. They would have innuendo contests and Zevran, being an assassin, wouldn't get all butthurt about the Chantry. Hell, he'd probably get a kick out of it.

You are reading Morrigan wrong. She would dislike Anders because his lust for vengeance blinds him to opportunities for power. She cares about Power above all things. Anders' lack interest in both Power and Self Improvement would have her finding him a waste of her time and influence. Why a character like Morrigan would have more in common with someone like Velanna though even she would probably not be worth talking to. I actually think if anyone Morrigan would have the most in common with Isabela but since even Isabela doesn't care about power? It leaves Morrigan without a true kindrid spirit in the entire bunch.

I think Morrigan would have the most fun messing with either Sebastian or Fenris. But that is because just like Isabela, Morrigan loves messing the minds of men. The more Stalwart the man is the more she wishes to get them to crack. Except unlike Isabela, Morrigan wouldn't offer it up unless she had something to gain compared. A simple tumble in the hay doesn't seem her way. Unless the tumble is with someone that truly has power she can gain.

Why would Isabella and Sten have any problems? That is like saying Morrigan and Sten wouldn't get along. He was messing with her head as well as she was messing with his. Sten is actually the quite stalwart type. He is more like Fenris in that they are less likely to talk unless spoken to. So if you think Isabela and Fenris could get along then why couldn't Sten and Isabela. Keep in mind she was more worried about the Qunari that were in Kirkwall because they were from a Battle Ship that was chasing her ship down. Past that I doubt she has some deep hatred or anger towards Qunari. She just doesn't understand them.

I don't think Morrigan and Anders would like each other too much. In fact I don't think Morrigan would like either old or new Anders.Just because they are both enemies of the templars and dislike the notion of the Cirlce doesn't make them friends.

In Awakening, Anders was very much a jokster type of character and not that dissimilar to Allister. And she never liked him at all.

In DA 2 I think they'd like each other even less. They both hate the Circle but Morrigan hates the mages just as much as the templars if not more so. Maybe the Vengeance part of Anders would agree with her but the rest of him not so much. Plus Anders has a distaste for blood magic I'm sure she wouldn't share. His obsession with being just would more than likely lead him to frown on many of Morrigan's actions and viewpoints. There's also the fact that despite his hatred of the Chantry Anders still believes in the Chant of Light.

Aye, keep in mind Morrigan most likely hates the Mages more than the Templars. She hates that they allow themselves to be corralled and trapped within the Circle. I'm sure if someone pointed out that most are taken when they are a young child but then she would simply argue that you should leave when you are able to. While Morrigan would be pleased that he is willing to leave the Circle. She would hate that once he is out of the Circle's grasp, he is still a prisoner of his own anger and rage towards his past. Which she would probably see as the far greater weakness. Also his lack of interest in power and self advancement is truly her conflict.

In fact all Anders has ever done has some how left him prisoner of something else. Be it the Circle, Fear of the Templars or even the Grey Wardens and lastly Justice. He's allowed himself to always be a prisoner in some way. That is something she would loathe even more than just a random member of the Circle. She'd even detest his insecurities that he shows. One of the reasons she found Sten so fascinating was how powerful he was, his conviction in his actions that he never gives in or changes his ways. Anders is truly none of these things. Why do I say this? I truly believe that the only reason he even aimed for revenge and war for the Circles was all due to Justice. Prisoner listening to it's master.

That's your interpretation. Morrigan believes in survival of the fittest, and advocates taking any advantage of any opportunities for increased power that come your way, but that's not the same as saying she outright despises anyone who passes them up. Her disdain for Circle mages is grounded pretty specifically in their failure to rise up and free themselves.  She's capable of differentiating between individual mages, Anders' actions would make him noteworthy. And Morrigan does not notice power to the exclusion of other traits. She appreciates wit and beauty and is touched by the warden's gestures of friendship. To say that she would immediatly write someone off because they lack, or do not wish for power, would be an injustice to her character. If nothing else, I think she and Anders would bond over their strong mutual dislike of templars and the chantry.

No, it doesn't, but that's not all there is to either of them.

In Awakening, Anders was very much a jokster type of character and not that dissimilar to Allister. And she never liked him at all.

Morrigan is also a jokester. She teases Alistair, Sten and Leliana. She banters with Shale and Zevran and Oghren. If she dislikes Alistair it has less to do with his jokes and more to do with the feact that he is a templar and (in her estimation) a moron. Even then, there is nothing in her teasing to suggest actual malice. Their interactions are schoolyard stuff.

Morrigan dislikes Circle mages because they allow themselves to be corralled like cattle. When one rebels, she would be forced to revise her previous prejudices if only for the sake of being accurate. The Warden can disagree with Morrigan on pretty much every issue and still romance her so obviously her principles don't get in the way of forming friendships with people she may genuinely like. Morrigan was raised alone in the woods, and pretty harshly. What little experience she has had with the outside world has been mostly negative. Prior to the warden she never even thought it was possible to have friendship with a man. Morrigan at the end of Origins is not the same character as Morrigan at the start.

I could see Morrigan chastising Anders for accepting Justice into himself, though she did give birth to an Old God so who would she really be to judge? But I don't think she would have much of a problem with the fact that Anders blew up a chantry and made people take notice, effectively forcing everyone around him to declare their allegiances one way or the other. I'm not saying she would suddenly be all for it and "take up the cause!" since she wouldn't really care either way. She would not advocate for anything, necessarily. She does however, believe in living a life free and untethered from the leash that the Chantry puts on mages so I don't see why she would have a problem with it at all..she isn't Anders, it's his decision to make this fight his, not hers. That doesn't mean she would outright dislike him, or never have a shred of respect for him. Also, in my opinion of Morrigan's character she would not let someone go unpunished that did her an injustice or wronged her in some way..that is not something she would just take lightly and decide to forget like it never happened. So, to say she would despise Anders for taking vengeance is not something I view in her character at all...if anything she would chastise him for letting the Templars and the Chantry get away with it. She chastised Alistair for a much simpler offense, she was baffled that he did not punish his sister who berated him and the fact that Alistair just let her get away with it.

Also, "unless the tumble is with someone that truly has power she can gain"..ehh. I mean, yes, Morrigan DID have an ulterior motive to being with the Warden's group but if you are comparing her relationship to the Warden to being something just about the gain of power I respectfully say you are wrong. Morrigan fights against the idea of love, because she fears it as a weakness but it is quite obvious in DA:O that she does fall in love with the Warden (or something very alike to love for Morrigan) if a relationship was pursued no matter if she will admit it or not. That is not about any kind of power gain whatsoever.

Even if the Warden is a female friend, it is quite obvious that she grows to care for her a great deal and she regrets what she must ask of her friend..there's even that short comic with Gaider's ideas about her sadness if she has to sleep with Alistair when the female Warden is in a relationship with him. It was supposed to be in the game but was cut. It's really touching actually, a softer side of Morrigan where she admits to Alistair that she does care about the warden while she is asking him if "asking a friend to do something terrible would help, would you do it?" He even jokes and is like "So..you have friends?" She says, "Only one." He leaves, and she does start crying, and gets mad at herself for doing so because she hates the fact that she is feeling weak.

In the end of Origins, Morrigan grows to immensly respect the Warden...she was the one of the few characters I often felt was on the verge of tears many times when speaking with the Warden. The Warden is truly her first, and only friend. That has the potential to change people a great deal. How else would one EVER learn, or even gain a different viewpoint on the ideas of love and friendship if they NEVER experience those things for themselves?

I'm not saying she didn't have a mission, because she most certainly did and Morrigan would definitely make sure to handle whatever it is she sets out to do...but I dislike the fact that you have apparently turned Morrigan's character into a single-faceted creature with only a desire of power in your head. It doesn't do her justice at all.

Ohh, your comment about her not having random tumbles I disagree with as well. She was one of the easiest to bed, and it's because like Isabela she didn't want to deal with anything more than a no-strings-attached "tumble", not because she is opposed to sex in some way unless it "gains her power".

I'm not sure I see Morrigan getting along with Anders much either. In Awakening I would think she would see him as weak, made insufferable in how he tries to hide his weakness with humor (like Alistair, just more flirty). I imagine it wouldn't be much different than him and Velanna, really. In DA2 he drops the humor and just whines the whole game instead up till he throws a temper tantrum at the end. I don't know if she'd like that either, though not out of sympathy for the Chantry of course.

I just don't see Morrigan getting along with many in DA2. Though I think she could find Varric interesting. Sure he's usually BS'n people but he's also intelligent and keeps track of about everything. I do think she'd find Fenris interesting, the combination of his insights and how he sees the world around him would probably interest her. The females not so much. I think she'd approve of Merrill's search for knowledge, but I'm not sure she'd approve of the jumping in at all costs. Granted the joke is on Merrill there. Morrigan already may know the secrets Merrill is searching for. Though in Witchhunt the mirror seemed to have already been created. That just means morrigan could use it. Doesn't mean she may know how to recreate one.

When I mentioned the Tumble part. I think it's cause Morrigan at times hints at being interested in control. Sex can be a tool for control. It is possible that in her relationship with the Warden, she thought she could control him only it back fired over time. It's hard to truly judge whether it was or wasn't by how she instigates the event not the other way around.

There's a difference between not liking Anders due to his personality than due to his decisions against the Chantry and the Templars, as Torax is saying. Which is mostly what my post was geared towards.

Any companion could dislike another simply because of how they act, not just based on their overrall decisions. However, I've personally never thought that Morrigan outright hated Alistair like many believe she did. I always viewed their bickering quite akin to two siblings, Morrigan loves any instance she can jab and poke at Alistair more so even with than with the other companions.

In regards to Alistair I think she at first saw him as childish and hence the "dimwitted" type comments. i think she would have found the deception part interesting. Though she may have known he was the heir before they even set off? If that is the case she may have lost some respect for him just because he had a chance to take the events into his own control and refused. That could have her dislike him or lack respect for him. Though I think once he is hardened, she would have more respect for his decisiveness and his willingness to lead instead of being a follower. Only ironic in that she to was a follower.

edited to add.

Her disliking him doesn't mean to hate him. It seemed Alistair hated her more than she hated him. I doubt she cared either way in the end. Whether or not he liked her truly didn't matter to her.

I think the most important thing about Morrigan is that she has never had a friend and as mentioned above she was raised rather harshly, I believe that all her angst and percieved superiority towards others is not much more than a smoke screen to keep anyone from getting too close. Of all the characters throughout DAO hers is probably the one that sees the most growth.

I think Leliana might become good friends with Sebastian, if he wasn't offended by her borderline-heretical beliefs about the Maker.

As other people have mentioned, Sten and Fenris and Shale could all be anti-mage, Qun-liking buddies together.

Wynne and Bethany I can see getting along well, but I think that Carver would take a serious dislike to Wynne thanks to her tendency to nag and lecture.

Morrigan wouldn't like anyone terribly much, but she'd probably enjoy pestering Fenris the same way that she did with Sten. She would absolutely hate Sebastian thanks to his preachiness and pro-Chantry, anti-apostate attitude. She might possibly bond with Varric over their mutual dislike for Sebastian.

Zevran and Isabela, of course, are already friends-with-benefits. I think that Zevran would be pretty good friends with Varric, too. They both have that charming rogue thing going for them so they would seem to compliment each other's personalities.

I see Aveline, Alistair, Leliana, Wynne, and Sebastian getting along.

I see Morrigan and Velanna ganging up on Merrill just for the fun of it. Yet, I think after time they would all get along. Merrill would get on Morrigan's nerves and I can see Morrigan making her cry.  I can see a fight with Aveline, Varric, and Isabela in the mix.

I see Leliana, Bethany, Isabela, Merrill and Wynne on a shopping trip with Varric, Zevran, and Anders along to offer advice and offer to carry packages.

I see Morrigan, Velana, Aveline, and Isabela at each other throats with Alistair laughing on the sidelines paying to watch the show. He might spend all the gold in Ferelden if the Warden is in the mix. Make that a female warden.
Also include a wise cracking female Hawke too.

I see Aveline and Sten respecting each other over time once Sten got over the fact she is a woman and can fight as good as he can maybe even better.

I see Oghren, Nathaniel, and Carver together. I don't see Sten sharing his cake or cookies with Carver, no Sten would ask for a fight with Carver.

I see Anders, Isabela, Zevran and even Leliana getting along, with Hawke and The Warden joining in. Sebastian in the group is one of those iffy ones because we don't know how wild he was in his youth. Alistair might join this party as well.

I don't see Alistair and Carver getting along that well either. They'd both be taking shots at each other over Bethany and The Warden with Zevran and Anders chiming in and let's not forget Fenris.

I can picture in my mind Varric, Sigrun, and Oghren in Tapsters together having a good time.
Joined by Leliana, along with The Warden, Hawke, Zevran, and Isabella. Once again Alistair and Sebastian are iffy's. I can also see Fenris, and Wynne in here as well.

I see Merrill and Shale hitting it off after awhile, once they get through throwing barbs at each other over pigeons. Shale killing them and Merrill sticking up for them.

I see Loghain getting along with Justice in a weird sort of way.

The dog would not like Loghain and Patrice, the dog was even iffy on Alistair. He didn't seem to have a problem with Zevran.

I also see Nathaniel, Fenris, and Sten getting along.

I see all Wardens in the game getting along. The Warden, Alistiar, Stroud, Orlesian Warden with Anders, Oghren, and Sigrun cracking the uncanny jokes.  Velana ,Loghain, and Nathaniel would be party poopers.

I see Wynne and Bethany getting along, but Bethany would get a lecture on being an apostate mage.   Wynne finds a new student.

I see Merrill and Keeper Lanya getting along.

The dog and Ser Pounce A Lot trying to out do each other in the prank department on all companions.

Meredith and Orsino were actually hidden lovers and they couldn't handle it.

I see Alistair and Cullen getting along to a point.

I'd love for Cullen and Zevran to meet, so Zevran can give whooing lessons to Ser Cullen. With all the women from both parties rolling their eyes.

Alistair and Leliana might or might not get along with Merrill.  Not sure on this one.

I'd love to see Loghain and Velanna have a chance meeting.  I do believe that Loghain's dingleberries would get fried.   I can see Morrigan and Alistair sharing popcorn watching this show and finally agreeing on something.

Flemeth watching it all on a mountain top somewhere plotting her next move.

I don't see Morrigan and Isabela getting along.  Not at all.

All of this works for me.

I don't actually think that Alistair and DA2 Anders would get along very well, not once Alistair revealed that he had been a Templar. Alistair's comparing his being stuck in the Chantry to being in the Circle scored points with him for my circle-hating mage, but I suspect it would enrage Anders and their relationship would never really recover. I think it would do Anders good if he could hear Alistair's perspective, but I don't think he would listen.

Alistair would get along well with Aveline (though his sense of humor would irritate her at times) and Varric.

Wynne would be great with Bethany, and good with Aveline, probably Varric as well. She and Merrill would be very much at odds. And she would not get along with Anders, probably not even in DA:A...she would obviously despise the Kirkwall Circle, but she wants to reform the system not scrap it. Thrask is her man, not Anders. You might think that the spirit thing would link them, but Wynne can be quite hypocritical.

Leliana would get along with Isabela...I think they'd have a fling.I'm not sure how Leliana and Anders would get along initially...she's actually in some ways more pro-mage than Wynne, who is very much of the gift and curse school, and her attachment is more to the Maker than the hierarchy, but she'd certainly oppose him in Act 3. My instinct is she would actually get along with Merrill but there'd be lots of missteps along the way.

Sten. Fenris and eventually Aveline would work. Lord, he'd despise Anders and Merrill.

Zevran. Isabela is obviously a kindred spirit and friend. Varric--most people get along with Varric. Probably Fenris, to a degree, since there is a similarity of background. He might be good for Fenris, help him let go a little.

Morrigan is hard. She doesn't make friends easily; the warden works hard to earn her respect over time. She's not much given to really hating people either--there's friction with Alistair, but I don't see real hatred like there is between Anders & Fenris. I don't think she'd respect any of the mages. Bethany surrendering herself to the circle she would see as contemptible, the high value she places on autonomy would make her take a dim view of Anders allowing Justice on board (she bears an old god child, she doesn't take its soul on herself). And while she would approve of Merrill's objectives, I think she'd view her as a fool for trying to cut deals with demons.

Shale? I don't think Shale really despises mages in general, but she's probably the only character well positioned to understand Fenris. I think Shale would also get also get along great with Varric, for humor alone.

@Elvalia, why don't you see Morrigan getting along with Isabela?

I don't think Morrigan and Isabela would get along because I think deep down inside Isabela would do good all the time with the right person and influence.

If you complete her quest and you fight the Arishok on her behalf. She was against selling people into slavery. Morrigan wouldn't have cared if they were sold into slavery unless it affected her directly, you get a disapproval from Morrigan in not allowing the Bloodmage in the Alienage to help you. Isabela will always be a party girl and take those trips to the wilder side of life. Morrigan wouldn't allow anyone to sway her opinion, not without alot of effort and jewerly.

Can you imagine Morrigan's reaction in seeing Alistair in DA2.  He thought he had it bad in DAO, I'd feel for the guy,  I really would.  Now Isabela would join Morrigan in poking fun at a fat Alistair.  I do see this happening.  Posted Image  Posted Image
