Actully short of an exclusive demo, its not. The game isn't out untill the 14th. Which makes me wonder how anyone can say it sucks or any details on main game level design or mechanics, when given the demo doesn't cover much.  His whole Rant seems to come from some illusion of what the 90's were, rather than any public information.  And I find it once more funny so many people are jumping on said band wagon when well no one has seen it at large.

The OP can't even form a rational thought, nevermind mind make a decent critic, or having had that exclusive look at the demo, thats reserved for people who orderd the BoS edition.

It is out, it arrived here a few days ago; though I haven't installed it yet since I'm not in a gaming mood at present.

I agree about the '90s being idealised, though.

Edit: though I see it's not out on the US yet.  The official release date in Europe was yesterday according to Wikipedia, although Wikipedia says a lot of things: it was released for delivery around the beginning of the week.

i dont idealise 90s. 90s had cartoons about rapper dogs, skateboarding dinosaurs, extreme sharks etcetc. and green lantern ABSOLUTELY sucked in 90s(that's a fact). but my point is this game should had sent us back to that time, and to feel nostalgia about these dark times when rapper dogs, secret agent frogs, skateboarding dinosaurs were in the TOP of the cartoon market, but it didn't.

Ah **** I forgot about the international release being first on the 10th, my bad. I'll admit I was wrong in the reguard, totally blew my mind, I was on the net back when like if someone was on from Canada on a US forum it was "exotic" now days even people from thrid world **** holes have the net. Tends to slip my mind from time to time.

So wait, OP your issue is that it doesn't suck enough or isn't stupid enough as the 90's were? Why would you want to play that? Am I the only one confussed here?

yes i am angry that it is not like in the 90s, because if it would be then i would feel nostalgic about the ''dark times'' of entertainment industry.

If you didn't know Ken, this thread comes from the same person who brought you such intellectual threads such as "sex in Skyrim" and "I want Shepard to be able to masturbate in ME3".

no no you misinterpret me. this game was supposed to be the throwback to 90s. time when good games and bad cartoons existed.

games was supposed to feel like in times when cartoons had rapper dogs and skateboard cats, which was in the top of the market.

but no it fails at that. it doesnt FEEL LIKE MADE IN THE 90s. it is not a product from that bygone age called the 90s. it is not from the SAME TIME when green lantern became the villain, then died, later becomed as some kind of hippy (i know it is spoiler BUT NO ONE SANE PEOPLE WOULD READ GREEN LANTERN FROM 90s. PEOPLE STOOD IN PICKET LINE FOR GREEN LANTERN BECAUSE 90s GREEN LANTERN SUCKED).

do you understand now? game was supposed to make us feel nostalgic for these things, when we thought it was cool for dinosaur ninjas to be in cartoons. i don;t want bad 90s game, i want a GOOD 90s game with a throwback to cat-skateboardists, dinosaur ninjas, dog rappers etc.

(Actully knew it was a troll just having my fun with it, but I'm starting to think its not a troll and his honest opinion so I give up.)

I've been lurking on other forums and reaction to DNF has been more disappointed with a few who really like it mixed in.

because i don't want to replay it 10th time. i've replayed it  but i want new duke adventures, more pigcops, more weapons, bigger levels, bigger bosses, pure oldschool, cat-skateboardists and dinosaur rappers thrown in for good measure. 3drealms missed a boat on that one.

Well minus your...well reasonings I decided with the International release being first I would look into it and for reasons not like yours at all, saddly enough I concure. Two weapon limits, small levels., health regen. And Missions with the truck and the like are good but small. So it smacks of being Halo, but without actully being Halo. Or having the things that made it great. And the Duke humor, while funny seems to be overlaced in this title and the central theme. Its more of a Frat boy game with horrible load times, and ****** poor gfx even by old X-box standards....so I'm canning my preorder. Getting something else. -sigh- I loved playing the various duke games on my 64, but they had depth in them that was more than witty one liners, and if IGN gies you a 6 thats not good and means its only for the most die hard fan.

Saddly the one good thing about duke was all the fantastic weapons, and how you were a walking tank. Now its two weapon limits? :-/ Oh well. Least I won't be raging now like I was over Homefront.

*Desperate attempts to follow the train of though* Duke Nukem is bad mostly because Kyle Reese flashbacks featured  in the original Terminator 2 script got removed from the actual movie? Did I get it right?
...I was competely agreeing with everything until you claimed 24 was ever a good series:l

ha so you like 90s green lantern, you like todd mcfarlane and his parodies of a comic book and his hack company ''image comics.'' you like 90s cartoons with dinosaur ninjas, cat marines and rat pirates.

poor human being.

michael biehn bought himself that he was cut. he was only a shadow of himself at that point after the legendary Kyle Reese in 1st Terminator and after Aliens.

despite that he could have jumped on prime time television. 24 = kiefer sutherland, action, drama, big budget. missed a boat on that one.

walking dead - excellent tv series also. michael biehn again missed a chance.

i am waiting 15 yrs for the the next ''The Rock.'' A rubber match between Ed Harris and michael biehn. where is it?

my suggestions are for the best of his career. that's a FACT

15 yrs of developments, 15 yeaaarrrsss.

usually i would not badmouth developers but it is an UNIVERSAL fact, and acknowledged by everyone, that broussard failed horribly on this one.

A long development time does not equal quality.

The only thing that 14/15 years of development did to DNF was to drive anticipation for the game out of proportion. Naturally, when excitement for something of this magnitude or greater comes about, the failings are that much more pronounced.

Your obsession with cat skateboarders and dinosaur ninjas, dog rappers is crazy.... I don't even remember that.  If I want a game that makes me nostalgia of the 90s I'd pull out my SNES or something.  Give me a break I don't even care about the subject here but your need for this game to meet a standard that only YOU have about it silly.

Hah! Ringo12's comparisson graphic of FPSers is pretty accurate. They have become so linear that they hurt now. Despite creative weapons, graphic style or the illusion of a plot it all boils down to walking down the same limited alleyway. I wish FPSers would have puzzles again, and at least pretend to be part of a world where there were options of how to progress. I long for a System Shock 3 but fear the result of such longing.

I don't care what any of the reviewers are saying about this game mostly because they are blowing this game way out of proportion. People who will be reviewing the game will complain about such and such or complain about this or that. All this game proves is that it is sometimes better a game with short development time vs the ridiculously long development time. All we can hope is that Gearbox actually makes money on this game and is tasked with working on the franchise. Hopefully the game after Duke Nukem Forever is far superior. All I can say is that I am happy the I will be owning a piece of gaming's holy grail.
