For the most part I'm wondering if the credits you had at the end of ME2 are going to transfer over to ME3. I've been trying to find some information on this but so far nothings really answered my question so I'm not certain if I should go for a max money play through or not.

I know I bought several things I didn't need such as heavy weapons upgrades and the hacking assistant items.

I hope our minerals and credits go through. I've been stripmining the galaxy before I do Arrival.

I'm sure you'll receive a generous bonus, like you received if you imported a save file from the original ME, but not the full sum surely.

I guess it will be an sum depending on your level, amount of upgrades done, certain achievements etc. We'll see.
Edit: I thought it was confirmed at least your level and decisions will be taken into account/transfer.

I hope level and credits transfer to an extent. Like in ME2.

After a few playthroughs I used that Gibbed-thingy for credits and minerals. I just hope the save files won't be 'infected' and not importable in ME3

Don't worry about that, Gibbed's changes values into ME2's own savefiles - there is nothing to be worried about, unless you use stupendous amounts of credits and minerals as input (for example, in case you have 2 billion credits and 4 million minerals each, you'll likely find an error on your way).
