ME2 had two discs for Xbox 360, the only console I care about.

How many discs do you think we'll get for ME3?

I think we're gonna get two again. Presumably, most of the space required was for dialog and it seems the amount of dialog is not going to change much (if it was reduced considerably, frankly I'd be disappointed)

Alternatively, we could get more discs due to "juicier" environments, models, and animations. While I think it'd be funny if ME3 followed trend and had three discs, the amusement would last about 5 minutes or until I started switching discs back and forth.

For those who aren't familiar, ME2 on 360 had 2 discs. If you played through the missions in relative order you only had to swap once (when you first visit Illium after Horizon) although you may have needed to swap multiple times if you explored a whole lot and found the exploring shot missions.

Just enough to ruin things again.

Okay, seriously speaking? Two.
And I think/hope that BW will have learned from the last time...

I was under the impression it was MS who should have learned something. Either way, makes no difference to me. PC player all the way here.

This is untrue. It was Twice. Once as you stated, then once again for SM.

The experience is much better on the PS3.(Consoles not PC) IMO.

But yes I would expect it to have just as much content as ME2,and I would personally prefer more.
3 & 4 disc swap is fine with me. But the general gamer may sway away from this, hurting sale numbers. So I don't think this will happen.

Probably around 2-3 discs but it depends if they use the new disc format for 360 which frees up around another 1Gb per disc and how good the compression algorithms are.

Two. One would be less of a game, three would seem to be TOO much, and would annoy people with all the disc swapping

Two-three.

I'm totally okay with three discs if they're making the swapping as seamless as it was in ME2.

Besides, disc swapping is not that big of a deal.

I have FFXIII on the 360. Let me tell you.. it's not the most fun thing knowing that the PS3's version is superior due to having only 1 disc compared to the 3 discs that you have to interchange. Even as linear as the FF series can be at times even though there is an open world, it worked out well for 3 discs. But for a game like ME where you can go to places that you've went to in previous events unlike FFXIII, it can be somewhat of a lacking prospect to have more than 2 discs. The only way for it to be fine is if all the common places like the Citadel and landable significant planets are fit in the separate discs while storyline progressive content can be put in their respective discs. "Beginning" in disc 1, "Middle" in disc 2, and "End" in disc 3, but the general content like Tuchanka, Citadel, Ilium, Shadowbroker base, etc can still be in all discs. It keeps things a lot simple and less frustrating for people who don't find it necessary to keep switching discs from Disc 3 to Disc 2 then back to Disc 3 then onward to Disc 1. But then again Bioware did say that ME 3 is going to be similar in length to ME 2 so I imagine 2 discs will happen. Although, more content would be loved :)

I have FFXIII on Xbox too, and it didnt bother me too much, since its not as if you had to constantly swap discs. ME2 is slightly different because its not as linear as FFXIII was.

I'm guessing 2 discs, due to the new disc format on the 360.

Personally I have no problems with changing discs :)

For me, playing FFXIII on the 360 could've been better. Content wise, the PS3 had a lot more than the 360 because of it's Blu-Ray disc space. Changing discs wasn't a bother for me too. Don't get me misunderstood, but lacking content in comparison to other console versions would only leave me as a consumer feeling utterly cheated.

Thats basically how ME2 worked as all major places of interest were on both discs with just the missions being split between the two discs with Horizon as the splitting point

They can have as many discs as they like if I can just install it to my hard drive and then play the whole game with disc 1 in the drive...

Most likely two. Pity the HD-DVD thing fell off the rails - Microsoft should have at least kept it as their proprietary format or something.

No big deal for me, though, PC players like me only have to swap discs to install.

Me too, but this is just me being selfish. I know that the 360 version can even have 7 but the PS3 will only get one and PC users who have the memory will play it seamlessly. I have no right to put down a vote since I'm biased in this response but I think that it's better to pack as much stuff into the game as possible, if they pack too little everyone is angry and if they pack too much then only some 360 owners would be angry while the PS3 and PC community will be fine.

I agree with @Oblivious. Sorry 360 owners but wouldn't you rather ME3 had so much content that it had to be fitted into like 3 or 4 discs? Speaking seriously though, it's not gonna happen. A lot of people seem to not be aware of this, but if your game span multiple discs Microsoft charges you extra, which probably varies with number of discs (besides the extra cost of disc production itself)

For linear games, disc swapping is fine. Mass effect is not about a linear progression. All roads lead to the same place, but the path you take can vary significantly. Have a requirement for x amount of gb storage and have disc(s) 2+ as having to be installed to hard-drive. This would have made ME2 a far more enjoyable experience since we (the players) would have more choice in how to play the game. Problem solved.

Now you've just confirmed that a Prothean DLC is not virtual.
