First the amount of content that came on the disc day 1. Easy 6 more hours of gameplay. (All DLC even CE content.)Better graphics,no disc swapping, faster load times, less glitches. The comic did add value over the 360. The controls were slightly different by the way. You could change them yes,but default has the shooting and biotics swapped. Menus also. The lighting. The collector armor. ( I can't cover all aspects, if there are more.who cares etc.)

All of this combined made a better playing experience (IMO) on the PS3 compared to the Xbox 360.

Unlike you PS3 exclusive titles are not in my near future, other then any Metal gears and Yakuza 4. I slightly prefer 360 over PS3,but ME2 was better on PS3 in my opinion. Didn't state it as a fact, so there is no need to get upset and start a stupid fan flame war over something I could care less about. The thread isn't about which is better, but rather the amount of content in ME3. So if we could drop this and continue the discussion about the content I will be happy. (Since I have answered your question, there is no need to further comment on this subject.)

I don't know if they've fully implemented it, but I was recently in on a 360 beta test that allowed games that normally would be two discs to fit on one. Got a free Halo Reach out of it.

It'll be the same as with ME 2. The DLC will pad out the game enough to feel like a good old PC RPG title.

@Paul Sedgemore ty for finding the quote. I haven't been focused much on Microsoft since my 4th 360 broke back in '08 but it is good for their fans that they are trying to update. I don't know how many discs most new triple-A titles are now since I only have a PC and PS3 but alot of people are talking about multiple discs as if they were the new norm. Glad to see Microsoft is trying to help their customers.

@ebevan91 lol I never figured out the love people have for steam. 3 hour long installs try my patience as it is, but a 12 hour long download + the 3 hours for install is just too much for me =P

Well, I remember in some interview (I think the Machinima one) someone saying its length is about the same as ME2, so 2-3 discs.

If they're doing annoying disconnected disk switches like with ME2 (one change after Horizon, another to enter the SM..ugh..), then keep it at 2 disks max.

However, if its going to be something like:
Disk 1 - Earth and beginning levels before exploration opens up.
Disk 2 - Open galaxy with many missions on many planets. Much DLC can be done here.
Disk 3 - Final missions (contained like Disk 1's), return to Earth, etc. Ending. You can stay on this sick though for post-game DLC.

I'll be happy. Otherwise, stick to 2.

as I said earlier that only frees up 1Gb of extra space which wouldn't get a game that takes 2 discs onto 1

Most games on 360 are 1-2 discs now though they are getting bigger. I think Microsoft are doing this because more and more devs are having to cut content from games as they are only just going over the disc size and cut the content so they can fit it onto 1 disc

EDIT: also fixed my name in your post:P

Gah, sorry for the typo lol I hope that MS will eventually support Blue-ray since it seems as if we're rapidly advancing to the point where the limitations on the 360's hardware will either stagnate the industry (sorta like how the PS2 did in its later years) or it'd have to be left behind like the Wii and Gamecube were. But this is semi-off topic =P

Like I said, I personally hope Bioware makes the ME trilogy end with as great a bang as they can, unlike Halo 3 and God of War 3 which ending with a disappointing whimper. If that means having to get 3-4 discs for it to happen then they should. As much as people will complain, chances are they will still buy it since the game is the culmination of their actions for the past 5 years and the end this generations "space opera."

no worrys, it a common mistake as that is how you would expect it to be spelt.
I agree that Mass Effect should end with as big a bang as possible and maybe they could go the same route Castlevania: Lords of Shadow went to avoid disc swapping.

However, if you've installed the data, you won't ever have to swap discs
again; you'll be able to continue playing with just Disc Two in the
drive. It's an interesting way of overcoming the DVD format's size
limitation -- a clever trick that could be employed by future multi-disc releases.

Games are bought online and delivered straight to your PC, including some I can't get on retail. Games are installed as they are downloaded, and the DRM is forgiving - there's an offline mode, and you can back them up and keep them forever on your hard drives. And then there are online services, community features, achievements, etc. It's basically the PC's answer to Xbox Live.

I for one like to leave my laptop to download overnight, playing other games on my gaming PC while I wait, then back them up and transfer them to my rig.

Steam is far from perfect, but it's a very decent service.
