Ha..Someone pulled an older thread, started up a year ago on this. "The worst playthrough..." It looks like you can only get the survivors down to one +Shep, for the ME3 import.

There MUST be at least 2 surviving Squadmates for Shepard to live.  The game doesn't allow you to play it with only a single squadmate on most missions so if you only have one left then Shepard dies.  So you HAVE to have two squadmates alive to import into ME3.

I know you must have at least 2 for Shep to survive the SM. So after the SM, If you only have Zman and X to survive, you smoke Zman at the end of his LM, Shep dies? I can't see that happening. Or mabe, it won't give you the opt to leave him. I haven't herd of anybody trying it with only 2 survivors from the SM.

There is no option to kill Zaeed if he's one of the only two squad suriviors of the SM.

For those interested in killing off characters without making Shepard look too inept I'd say choosing Garrus for the vent and Miranda for the biotic field would be "good" choices. Garrus clearly has some tech skills as he's worked on the Mako and SR-2's guns and Miranda is a bio-engineered clone who was intentionally designed to have (better than average?)biotic skills.

Garrus doesn't actually work for the vent? Hmm odd...

Damn...That sux...
But thanks, you just saved me from making another playthrough. Though, I don't see why or agree with them doing that really. I mean you play a couple of missions with only two and run the Arrival mission lone wolf, so the mechanics should be there. Unless they plan to pick up the first of ME3 with a direct continuation of ME2 and a brief mission.

I sent Thane the first time lol. I figured "hey, he was jumping out of a vent when we first met him, surely he knows his way around vents!"

Game can't be played in most misisons without 2 characters.  It will not let you launch a mission and to keep from locking people out of the game, they just prevented you from getting there.  They did the exact same thing in ME1 when you don't recruit Liara and Garrus before going to Virmire, they make a certain optional death character not be able to die.

I sent Jacob during my first run because he.... uh .. volunteered? Yeah, I don't have a good reason for that one.

Surely such a strong supporter of Cerberus isn't unnecessarily throwing away their agents' lives! lol

I didn't know what the hell I was doing for most of the SM or what to expect. I also picked Grunt for a second squad leader because I thought he'd be good at holding the line and in the words of Zaeed "big mistake".:(

Right, we been over that part. I said some missions, Kasumi LM, LOSB final fight, Arival...

This might be a stupid question. (sorry) How would you or anybody know that, if you can't have less than 2 squadies to start with?

What? You must recruit Liaria, to advance the plot. You can play the whole game without Garrus, or Wrex for that matter.

OK, I'm lost....Yes I need help...

EDIT: Nevermind Sebo...It took a few min to put Liaria and Therum together...Still she is a forced squadie as opposed to Gar and Wrex.

There is an entire thread dedicated to killing off people in the Suicide Mission, so the "how" of it has already been established.

What's more important is to establish WHO you want to kill off. We've heard that Garrus and Tali are "permanent squadmates" in ME3, so their deaths would theoretically have a significant impact on ME3. Legion and Mordin are known to appear in ME3, so killing them off should make for some interesting playthrough variations. I have a feeling that killing off characters like Samara, Grunt, Thane, Kasumi, and Zaeed wouldn't really change very much in ME3. One or two missions maybe, but not nearly as much as Garrus and Tali. Miranda and Jacob's deaths are a bigger question mark, as BioWare is holding these two characters (and the Illusive Man) pretty close to the chest, so there's a chance their deaths could be pretty significant in ME3, or relatively minor effects.

social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/105/index/5855452         ?

Agreed.

I recently just finished a playthrough after E3 announced all squad would return in ME3 in some way.(Even Zaeed & Kasumi.) Now I am just as interested in how it will change the game.

I have an old playthrough where I got all the male squadmates killed.
In the recent one I got Jacob,Thane,Garrus,Zaeed,Legion,& Samara killed.
Both Shepards are Paragon Males. I am excited to see how this effects ME3.

Ok, you got me curious so I went in and edited a save to only have Grunt alive and tried out going to a planet....worked fine, no problem wandering around with him or getting onto the planet.  So this was totally a gameplay issue by the Devs, they want you to have two squad mates, nothing more nothing less.

If you are on PC then play it like you want then do Zaeed's loyalty mission save him, then edit the save and say he died because you left him.....would be fun to see how ME3 would go then.  But it may bork the game and you can't use it in ME3 so make a backup.

I kind of thought that was the direction this thread was going.
