The Alliance represents Earth, the birthplace of humanity. Shepard doesn't have time to hold petty grudges, he needs the Alliance.

The Alliance? What Alliance? Normandy may have been improved by them between ME2-ME3, but they're a little too busy to be keeping tabs on you after Earth gets attacked. You'll be able to ally yourself with them, but I'm sure that at minimum, you'll have the "I'm independent" convo options. You are Shepard, a faction unto yourself.

This would be pretty cool. After the events of ME1 and 2 my Shepard wants the option to say F U to other people's politics and agendas. I like the spectre angle as it gives the most freedom, but at this point Shepard doesn't even need that title.

For some reasons i always try to make the same dessishions on my play throughs but i agree on using anyones resorces but if i had to chose a faction i would chose...

1.) Alliance
2.)Cuberus
3.)Specter
4.)Free lance

i chose Specter they have all the top gear from counsl race's (excluding secret gear) you are also majority free lance and covered by counsl just don't throw mith or legends at them and you are great. i also like alien race's... e-hem Asari/ Quarians e-hem... well who would want to fallow protical are even crazy tim oh well i am a specter to the core.

still have to do missions for counsl or recamended missions.

I need their resources, just like I needed cerberus's resources in ME 2.

Liara's got you covered on that front, though.  It pays to have friends in the Shadow Brokering business!

Liara who? One of my Sheps didn't even go to the Crescent Nebula in ME2 let alone Ilium, though I am fully expecting that I will have to meet Liara in ME3 and Shep and her will talk as if they were BFF even if Shepard absolutely despises the whole mindmeld thing and thinks the only good Asari is a dead one.

In Mass Effect, we could state we were Alliance or Spectre or just Commander Shepard

In Mass Effect 2 whilst we were working with Cerberus there were plenty of opportunities to tell people we didn't trust them and were only working with them to sort this issue out.

I hope in ME3 we can do a combo of the 2 stating we're either Alliance, Spectre, Cerberus or just Commander Shepard... hero of the universe, save everyone of us... oh wait, that's Flash...

We're doomed :crying:

Doesn't matter if you never even went to Ilium in your game, LoTSB is considered canon and ME 3 will act like it happened even if you didn't play it.

No matter what the emblem on my armor states, my Shepard represents himself, does things his way, and will continue to do so because no one can stop him.

The Alliance can claim me as one of their own; I don't care. Either way, they don't control what I do.

If Cerberus wants me, I'll use their resources until they're no longer useful. Same with the Alliance.

My Shepard is the same way...  In ME1 I believed in the Alliance...  In ME2 I lost faith in the Alliance, and I don't want to deal with Cerberus.

I would rather freelance, and since Liara is the SB now, I have the resources for anything I desire.  They can claim me, but my Shep does what he wants, when he wants.

I feel as if my Shep is above those in the Alliance, and Cerberus was a convience to help me reach a goal.

And you clearly missed the point where they said it would be handled differently... I am assuming that is with reference of Shepard having not helped her.

Before you use Arrival as an attempt to state otherwise. Arrival was a personal mission for Shepard. LotSB was really a personal mission for Liara. Shepard or Cerberus just passed the info on.

You also missed the part where I pointed out how am expecting it to not acknowledge that this particular Shep I am talking of didn't appreciate Asari and welcomes Liara back with open arms. Just like how Shep talks to Garrus in ME2 even if he wasn't recruited. This is one of my only slight niggles with the way they've handled the story in the past.

Still doesn't matter if your Shepard actualy helped her take out the SB, Liara is the new SB either way and you and her were still squadmates in ME 1.   Either way she is the SB and you can use her resources even for your douchey Shepard.

My Shepard's way of thinking is: give me what I need, I'll get s--t done, but don't try to pretend we're friends. As far as this goes, Shep's a contract worker who's doing this for the galaxy, not just to save a bunch of humans; humanity doesn't get special treatment because Shep's human as well.

At the end of the game assuming they survive I think both the alliance and the council should get on their friggin hands and knees and aplogize to Shepard and then give Shepard whatever Shepard wants (similar the boon the warden receives at the end of DAO)

*facepalm*

Please care to explain where I said she wasn't the SB? Go on look... can't see it, RIGHT! because I never did.

Also please try to read past the first sentence next time. I'm sorry if you have the attention span of a gnat but I don't feel the need to keep making posts to point out what I've already repeated once already.

Douchey... clearly you don't understand what that word means if you are trying to reference it to my Shepard.

Well don't you have a little attitude problem, why don't you take your stuckup little attitude and stick it.  Just because I see things differently doesn't mean I have to put up with your crappy attitude.  Not only does that word douchey seem to describe your shepard but it seems to describe you as well.  And seeing that your profile is private I can see why.  You tend to run your mouth alot don't you?  Talk like this to me in real life and I would break your friggin face.  Elitist little ****.    I understand your post perfectly, you just didn't understans that it doesn't matter if your idiotic Shepard didn't meet with her in ME 2 they were still quite familiar with each other from their time spent together in ME 1.

I support the idea of NOT being tied to the Alliance if you don't choose -

BUT - I would choose the alliance anyway so meh.

People whine about being "railroaded" but they can only give you so many choices and keep the game coherant. Sometimes people just aren't realistic with what they want.

I agree. Although tbh if anyone tries to give her a medal, she's going to say rude things in various languages (because you know Shepard can probably cuss a blue streak in five different languages now) and flounce like it's going out of style. But my Shepard can be pretty b---hy at times, lol.
