There's a DLC called "The Prothean" and it includes a new squadmate. Everyone thinks this means that the squadmember is a Prothean.

Which is ridiculous if you ask me, because if it's a Prothean, he/she will literally be the last of his/her kind and shouldn't throw themselves into firefights with the machine race that wiped his/her race out in the first place.

Well if you are the last of your kind your not going to be able to revive your race anyway so why not?

Someone had to say it. Bioware staff have dismissed its existence and while I'm too lazy to go dig through their posts to find where they have said "There is no Prothean," TRUST ME, it has been said.

They said the same thing about Kasumi way back before she released.

No, but I fail to think of a reason why he/she should sacrifice themselves and be the witness of yet another Reaper cycle instead of taking it easy and live their full life in peace somewhere, while Shep & Co mops up in his/her place.

Just a bit of an educated guess.

I mean I dunno I basically figured Harbinger was a Reaper the first time I heard him and saw him possess a body. (Also the name Harbinger, come on...) Sure it could have been the Collector General. But it's pretty obvious he wasn't.


Same thing here. Sure he could just be some human official, but my intuition says otherwise. And my intuition has served me pretty well so far. I suspected Shepard would re-join the Alliance, that T.I.M. would become a "bad guy", and that some henchmen under him would serve as an antagonist (Clicky). I've also long since suspected that there would be some surviving Prothean from the Science Team since their fate is "unknown". The Collectors turning out to be Protheans is just more foreshadowing that the Protheans aren't all dead yet.

Well if you are the last of your kind your not going to be able to revive your race anyway so why not?

Because the Reapers need a Prothean for their zoo of extinct species. And they hand-picked Shepard for the humans which is why they want him alive. XD

That's pretty ridiculous. Where are they going to go to live in peace? And why the hell isn't everybody going to this mystical land of peace and happiness?

One of the screenshots shows the Citadel in orbit over a planet which tells me that they get inside the core. Maybe one or more of those scientists found a way to put themselves in stasis using the core technology.

Why not? It's not like it could be re-populating the Prothean race; it's the only one left. We've already lost the Protheans, and with one left, they're functionally extinct anyway. What do we have to lose?

Precisely. If this is a Prothean that survived the Reaper invasion (as opposed to one created by some sort of scientific means later) he/she/it would have every reason to stick it to the Reapers to its last breath.

Seriously this. You even hear the Prothean dude in the trailer. Of course Bioware's going to deny it. It's suppose to be a "secret" that way it doesn't upset the Spoiler-Babies. Me? I'd rather know who my "mysterious" DLC character is going to be. Although why Bioware making the Prothean squadmate a DLC character like Zaeed seems kind of lousy. They should be in the main game. That may be another reason they are hushing it up since they haven't come to final decision on the matter.

Still you clearly hear the Prothean guy at the end talking to Shepard in the trailer.

What makes you so sure that's a Prothean, Bluko?  It kinda sounds like an unprocessed Salarian voice to me, although I'll concede that it also sounds a bit like Vigil.  In any case it sounds like bad voice acting to my ears - if that's indeed a Prothean hopefully there'll be some audio post processing added before the final version.

Him saying "cannot be stopped" sounds the same as the trailer voice.
