That is a simplething called plot armor, the Protheans are all dead, Shepard made sure of that when he destroyed the Collector Base.MysteryNotes wrote...

Yeah.
Let the extinct alien empire rest in peace with what dignity it has left for once.

The Protheans will die with peace and even more dignity if the final survivor of their race ends up directly helping the destruction of those who wiped out their species.

When a CE is released, is the DLC content automatically part of the game, or is there a redeem code for it? (never bought a CE before)
Reason I'm asking is, if for instance, I don't want a prothean squaddie (which I do, but hypothetical) but I get the CE, I don't have to install it?
So If I am a poster raging about this prothean, I don't have to acknowledge the prothean's existence?

Well, usually there's a redeem card.
If ME3 has a Cerberus Network-esque system for free DLC's, then I imagine there will be a code for the Cerberus Network(Alliance Network, in this game I guess) and after redeeming that, you can download whatever free DLC's you want to have.
So you should generally be able to exclude the Prothean squadmate if you really don't want him.

I'm getting sick of seeing posts about this. It was a feature that apparently was removed or decided against at some point, and it mistakenly appeared as a feature in the Collector's Edition. Someone had to say it. Bioware staff have dismissed its existence and while I'm too lazy to go dig through their posts to find where they have said "There is no Prothean," TRUST ME, it has been said.
Bioware hasn't said that, they only said that text shouldn't of been there yet. Besides, if BW wanted to keep a secret a Prothean DLC squadmate a character they would deny its existence, doesn't matter if they're telling the truth or not. I'm betting my cards that there is a Prothean squadmate(in some fashion) in the game.

1.) How can you possibly know that they are all dead?
2.) Don't like it. Don't install the DLC.

People are all like "OMG I don't like the fact that there could be living Protheans so all people who do like them shouldn't be able to have a Prothean squadmate". I mean ... Come on people, is it going to harm your gameplay if there is a character that you don't like? Don't recruit him! And its even a DLC character. So ... Don't buy the DLC and save yourself some money. It is perfectly possible that a Prothean could be alive to this day. For crying out loud they built their own MASS RELAY. They were obviously more advanced than today's spacefaring races. Why is it so farfetched that a Prothean could live for 50k years in stasis? Or that one could be cloned? Or that a small population could be living in a system far away from any mass relays? There are loose ends that Vigil left when he said that 13 top scientists went on the Citadel. He doesn't know what happened, but 13 top scientist of a race that can make a Mass Relay can certainly do something as find or build stasis pods. Heck, they could have taken stasis pods from Ilos with them.
And this
Chris Priestly, the same guy who said that there was no Kasumi, that
Arrival wasn't planned and that Legion was not a squadmate said that
there is no Prothean DLC.
Draw your own conclusions.

THERE IS NO PROTHEAN DLC SQUADMATE! The BIOWARE DUDE SAID THAT TEXT WAS THERE BY MISTAKE!!
Don't you see? There won't be a DLC Prothean because BW decided that the Prothean will be included in the normal version of the game, in the main storyline!
The CE text is outdated!
And clearly: comparing the Prothean voices on Ilos with that from the trailer => the voice in the trailer is definitely a Prothean.

The op is just another typical pessimist like the rest on these forums.
Take into consideration that they said the same thing about Kasumi, arrival, etc. Don't jump to conclusions, which is a big problem here it seems, just wait and see... What I am tired of IS YOUR KIND OF THREADS op, jeeze no one wants to here you qq all over the forums.
I wouldn't consider myself a pessimist, but you can dig through my posting history and decide for yourself. But I am a skeptic of certain things - there's a difference.
And that you like to SHOUT your opinions.

I seriously hope you guys don't do this.
Plus, all Chris said was, "This text wasn't supposed to be there", not "This idea has been scrapped."
And an even bigger plus, Chris previously said Legion wouldn't be a squaddie and that Kasumi wouldn't be a DLC squaddie. The man's a liar - do yourself a favor and don't trust liars.
True. He said so himself... I for one admire him for his honesty.
Yeah. Chris also denied Arrival, Kasumi, Legion, etc....
I was one of the ones who were constantly ridiculed for the "ridiculous" idea of a geth squad-mate. And yet, we turned out to be right. For some odd reason, despite how ridiculous an actual prothean squad-mate sounds... I believe it.

I feel exactly the same way. I was in the "Legion is definitely a squadmate camp" even after they were denying it. Everyone was hurling around insults at people who dared to believe a geth could be a squadmate.
This thread is just more of the same around here

I do find it entertaining that the only one that will be able to understand the Prothean (assuming it only knows its native language) is Shepard and possibly Liara.
Well, not necessarily. Their language should be understood, at least in a written form. Otherwise how would all the current species be able to understand and utilize their technology? What about all humanity's advancements in medicine as a result of interpreting Prothean studies of ancient humans, which were discovered on Mars?
Shepard's interaction with the beacon is different. It was 'coded' in such a way that only Prothean minds were supposed to be able to interpret it--it wasn't just language and images, it was like a direct brain-dump or something.
But language would be a barrier. The distress call on Ilos was unintelligible to whomever are your quad-mates, and only Shep can understand it. The explanation is Shepard having the Cipher. So technically, only Shepard would be able to understand unless some asari go spreading the Cipher around as though it were and STD.

Shepard: "What's your name..."
Prothy: "My name is Prothy, for I am Prothean!"
Shepard: "Prothy."
Prothy: "Shepard."
Shepard: "Prothy."

^^This^^
Shepard should be dead, there is no way in a realistic way to bring Shepard back to life. They only did it on Star Trek before because the person who died only died seconds or minutes and was possible to revive that person with the Tech they had. Shepard was dead for problay a few weeks or so before Cerberus problay even started the Project.
Shepard is around so its not too farfetch that a Prothean can be to, plus there is vastly unexplore sections of the galaxy where a small colony may have survived the cycle. We already know the Reapers thinking highly of themselves in a cocky way so its possible a colony survived or one in a Stasis Pod survived with a Prothean.
