Fallible people making fallible assumptions. All the more reason why we need Prothy's wise guidance.

Why would you even want a prothean character, i actually miss some of the mystery behind the mass effect universe regarding the reapers and the protheans, what would be the point of even having a prothean in your party anyways?

The mystery is ok, its great even, and we have had it for the last two games, but now all events start to unravel and we need all the help and knowledge we can get.

its possible a prothean is alive somewhere sealed off remember the last prothean scientists? they could have somehow found a way to ummmm idk teleport and sealed themself in a stasis again or something. here from the mass effect wiki:
"The fate of these Prothean scientists is unknown. As the Conduit portal only links one way and there was no food or water left on the Citadel, Vigil hypothesized they eventually starved to death."

but there is no proof they actually died.

If we do get a Prothean squad mate, I'd want to see the Hanars' reaction to the news that an Enkindler still lives.

The Prothean can communicate by vision and mind (not sure what do they call it). The surviving Prothean scientist tried to communicate with other Protheans, but they realized that their entire race was harvested by the Reapers. Thanks for using the Citadel in storing info about every single Protheans in the Galaxy. It helped the Reaper to locate the Prothean and destroy them systematically.
I am sorry to point that all Protheans extinct and there is no way we meet or find any surviving Protheans.

If it's an actual Prothean, it's not getting installed in any of my games.

Ok so some guy that just made the mistake of putting text on an image that would inevitably be seen by thousands a huge made up story that he just thought of without any kind of higher up approving the image itself.

So yes you must be correct, and the whole thing was some sort of imaginary mistake made by one man?

I highly suspect there is atleast one out there, otherwise "prothean squadmate" would never have been typed let alone "accidently" being left in a description.

Like a few have said, it couldve been put into the main game instead of being DLC so therefore the description of it being DLC was indeed wrong

Hey,
Sorry to bother you, just wanted to clear something up. On Origin,
it said something like Prothean Mission/Companion or something, but you
confirmed it was just old text. Is it the same old text on the picture
of the Collectors Edition on the main ME3 site? It says "Additional
Downloadable Mission and Character" under the Normandy Lithograph. Is
that accurate, or just the same as the old text that got onto the Origin
site?

Seems there's no extra mission/companion at all (for now). Its just that the pic on the ME3
site showing the N7 Edition is using the same old text that was leaked
onto Origin. Also, if you look at the written text under the picture, it doesn't say anything about a mission/companion, just the mech dog.

I think BW may just be covering themselves when they say it was a typo. Remember that they also denied the other DLC like Kasumi. If there is a Prothean squadmate, I hope they give it actual dialogue, not like Zaeed and Kasumi,

Do you honestly trust Chris Priestly? The guy has lied about Kasumi, Legion and Arrival.

Reading (and remembering) this:

http://masseffect.wi...m/wiki/Eletania

Made me want to have a living Prothean even more. They were studying us, had a base on Mars, and might even tampered with our evolution. It would be interesting to see how a Prothean reacts when he sees that the Human race is now spacefaring.

The op is just another typical pessimist like the rest on these forums.

Take into consideration that they said the same thing about Kasumi, arrival, etc. Don't jump to conclusions, which is a big problem here it seems, just wait and see... What I am tired of IS YOUR KIND OF THREADS op, jeeze no one wants to here you qq all over the forums.

I wouldn't consider myself a pessimist, but you can dig through my posting history and decide for yourself. But I am a skeptic of certain things - there's a difference.

and yet I fail to see how would a Phrothean squad member would be cliche... =/

Trusting Chris Priestly? Really? You actually take the word of the God of Lies and Deceit incarnate seriously?

There are mutliple ways in which a Prothean character could be introduced due:

a) To the fact that the fate of the Prothean's who reached the Citadel is unknown.

and

B) To the fact that the Prothean's were a truly pan-galactic civilsation. If Bioware wanted to I am sure they could write a plausible story of a secondary research facility similar to Ilos for example. Not saying that this would necessarily be good story writing but it's a possibility with lots of options.

A Prothean character could exist as either a squad mate or an NPC and I suspect that this has been an option in Bioware's mind for a very long time.

I would guess that if there is Prothean character in ME3 they are more likely to be similar to Liara in ME2: LotSB than a full on player character.

I could see Shepard following a lead on an extant Prothean and then the Prothean helping them access some vital piece of info on the Reapers from some Prothean artefact/facility. Shepard has to escort them and protect them during the mission. The Prothean could be playable only during this mission but remain as an NPC thereafter a la Liara.

If the above were the case I would expect it to occur late game in a similar way to the appearence of Legion.

okay at first i was also alittle ticked about this prothean squadie/mission, but after finshing lair of the shadow broker on my final run of ME2 which is the run i will be importing into ME3, i'm starting to think that this dlc is actually real, why do i believe its real well somethings that were said by liara after killing the shadow broker have made me believe that the dlc might actually be centered around the protheans and whatever plans they had for dealing with the reapers

What happened to the team of scientists that actually used The Conduit?

Vigil suggests that they were stranded and left to slowly starge to death but why? Vigil was still on Illos and didn't witness the outcome. So that sounds like an assumption on the part of the VI.

And given that the Protheans tweaked the Keepers in a way that the Reapers had not anticipated, what evidence is there of that group's demise? None. it's conjecture and speculation.

One of the hopes that I've had since ME1 was that if I scanned all of the Keepers for Chorban that it would pay off eventually and that we could get some better understanding of what the are, what they do, why they do it and how this relates to the changes the Protheans made to them.

Perhaps that science team didn't die. Perhaps one or more of them survived and are still on the Citadel in stasis. It's fairly apparent that the Citadel itself is still very mysterious and likely still holds secrets.

The Keepers are the key.  And a key can potentially be used for more than one lock.
