So that one guy who did the Q&A-walkthrough on the E3-livestream was talking about squadmates from ME2 coming back in ME3. Even Kasumi. Saying 'if they were important to you, they will.'

What do you think that means?

I also heard Casey say something about ME3's outcome depending on what squadmates you pick. I'm starting to think you have a basic squad and then you have room for a few extra's which you can pick from a bigger group of former and new squadmates.

I think that means if you bonded with them or talked to them often, they will return. But maybe it means the most popular squadmates.

Except they can't really tell who you "bonded" with.  My guess is that all the squadmates will return in some capacity.  I think we're overanalyzing his words.  That's producer talk for "yeah they'll be there but I can't talk about that yet."

Being able to pick a few members to come along with you would actually be pretty cool. Would certainly add some replay value if you ask me. Having dialogue for all those people seems like it'd be a lot of work though.

Everyone will return to some capacity, assuming they're alive. Even if only token appearances.

Bioware's cryptic comments are giving me a headache.

Better grab some Tylenol.  ME3 is a long way away.

It probably means whether or not you got their loyalty. That is, if you liked them you probably made a decent shot at trying to get them loyal.

Even though I disliked a lot of ME2's new squaddies, I bonded with them all in a way... We went through HELL and back. ME1 I basically loved everyone but Garrus.

I'd guess he's assuming if a character was important to you, you would have made sure they survived ME2. In which case they'd be available for ME3.

I made sure everyone lived, regardless if I liked them or not.

Honestly, if you made them survive, i would guess most will be cameos and temp party members.

I think you pretty much nailed it on the dot. I mean can anyone imagine the time it takes to program / write / develop every single (if not multiple) outcomes? Best example: Look at the final fantasy series. I know people that worked on that as well as other RPGs and they all told me two things when a) STFU and B) there isn't a budget big enough to accomodate all of the resources needed to give the player everything they want. All they can do is do the best they can to accomodate as much of the game-playing public as they can. So yes, too much work... But at least Bioware is putting in the time needed to m ake it somewhat worthwhile... I'm not a total fan of ME2, but you can see the areas where if bioware had more time (and resources) there would've been a better game play in certain aspects..

P.s> Yes, I firmly believe that they are in the right to tell me to STFU as it's people like us that show's how ungrateful a chunk of us are to the amount of labor they put in to create an RPG world / game for the game playing public. Since then, I really don't comment on 'what should've been' nor do I comment on 'how you can do it better'. Why? Cause we're not the people that make the games, just the ones that play it. IMOP

Fight for the Refund.

It would be interesting if their return was based on finished their loyalty mission but that would make them practically option content so probably not that.

It means that if the fans liked the character, they'll be back. It has nothing to do with whether or not Shepard liked them.

I think it means we'll have a whole lot of threads about "You said if they were important to me they'd be back!" once ME3 is released.

Exactly.  Scrutinizing every utterance will drive one mad.  March 2012 is very far.  The game may well still be in flux, the story part anyway.  Until there are more big news releases, or we're told otherwise, why don't we all assune that our favorite NPCs are in the game?

I'm down for the 'think happy thoughts' approach. I'm also a bigger fan of 'hope for the best and brace for the worst.'
