lolwut? Shepard's trial is taking place in the US anyway. It's pretty clear from the trailer that that fleet was preparing to defend Earth from the Reapers.ShepardVI wrote...
Maybe they were there for Shepard's trial?

Because he should know about the Reapers and all from Shepard via Arrival.

They could have evacuated some people before the Reapers arrived. Overall I agree though, the main point here is that the Alliance knew the Reapers were coming, it was not a surprise.LPPrince wrote...

Uhhr... why not just let the reapers win if everyone is so adamant about this (the fools).
Or just let earth fall to the reapers - im sure renegade shepard wouldn't mind.

What are they supposed to do? No one knows how to defeat the Reapers.Biotic_Warlock wrote...

Does Admiral Hackett lead the ships that would presumably have been able to deploy to Earth's orbit?

If you go the ME3 site, you'll see there is a new trailer. At the start of the trailer during a news interview, we learn that thousands of Alliance ships were orbiting above europe before the Reapers arrived. So obviously it wasn't an out of the blue surprise attack like some people have been saying here. The fleet got crushed though. I doubt they managed to take out a single Reaper.
It's not "out of the blue" the reapers are already tearing throug batarian space.

To where would they have evacuated them? The entire Milky Way is pretty much ****ed.

Well... I think it works better not telling the truth.
.
And there is some subtle things that indicates that races of the galaxy didn't totally ignored the reapers, lilke the end thing in Kasumi's loyalty mission, or the fact that the alliance stop protesting against the Turians building more dreadnoughts...

US in Mass Effect Lore was split into northern US and southern Us, well then again, they are no longer "The united states", so they are probably referred to only as America.Decepticus Wolf wrote...

This peice of lore is found during the Kasumi Dlc.
Lol I love how since Bioware is under EA, they now do the TV act thing, it's not bad, it's actually pretty cool, but very typical EA
