lolwut? Shepard's trial is taking place in the US anyway. It's pretty clear from the trailer that that fleet was preparing to defend Earth from the Reapers.

US in Mass Effect Lore was split into northern US and southern Us, well then again, they are no longer "The united states", so they are probably referred to only as America.

Has anyone considered the idea that this fleet may be posted in Earth orbit at all times to prevent invasion or an attack in the event of war (simmilar to the American national gaurd)? (not that it helped) Not to mention the possible war with the batarians that they may have been concerned about.

The fleet isn't posted at all times. If you watched the trailer, it's clear people are alarmed by the buildup. I guess it could be to defend against batarians but would they need thousands of ships?

Can anyone translate what the non english language news broadcasts are saying? So we can get a clearer picture.

Wait...If they know the reapers are coming, but lie about it. Why would they still put Shepard on trial? Putting your best weapon in a position to get killed without even having a chance to fight back doesn't sound like the brightest thing to do. I hope the Alliance isn't that stupid or humanity might actually be screwed.

It's not an organisation though and they aren't nations anymore, they've merged to form a single nation so your name is wrong.

Uh yeah.  As in "United North America".  Which is Mexico, US, and Canada.

Just because their was a civil war does not mean that the secession was permanent.  The rebs were beat back into the union in the first civil war, so it is easy to believe they were in the second as well.

What no NAN, Tir Tairngire(Tir Tangerine to my players), and Azatlan?  I mean if you are going to give me the CAS and UCAS you minds well go the rest of the way.

The Systems Alliance fleet was probably there to protect Earth from Batarian terrorist attacks, considering Shepard was on trial for killing an entire Batarian system. I wonder if the Council are there? I hope they get zapped.

If you go the ME3 site, you'll see there is a new trailer. At the start of the trailer during a news interview, we learn that thousands of Alliance ships were orbiting above europe before the Reapers arrived. So obviously it wasn't an out of the blue surprise attack like some people have been saying here. The fleet got crushed though. I doubt they managed to take out a single Reaper.

Whenever I watch the invasion trailer the British guest on ANN always annoys the hell out of me lol If he survives the Reaper invasion I'm sure he'll get punched in the face everytime he interacts with the general public...  Truth is stranger than fiction, people will stick their heads in the sand though so its hard to feel sorry for those that allow themselves become slaves err I mean, not realising the Reapers are real.
