My biggest problem with Sten is he's always lvl 7 when I get him and he has no base spec, so you lose out on one.
yeah true, that should be fixed, if its a bug. what would he start as?

Another idea, if you're using respec mod, is to turn Sten into a sword and board tank. You don't really need a specialization for that.

Well..you can get Sten without Leliana..but you practically have to threaten the Revered Mother...using Leliana is much easier...heheTheGreenLion wrote...
Leliana proves to be the decider when ya talk to tha Revered Mother. He isn't much for talk persay but he has his moments.

Sten's just a good ol' warrior. Forget specs, he's purely a damage machine. Go deep 2-handed and equip him with a good weapon. One of the most entertaining party combinations I ever had was him, Oghren, Wynne, and my 2-H massive damage dwarf warrior. I called it "Team Beefwall", and believe it or not, it worked.

Yea just the interplay between Ohrgren and Wynne is enough to keep them playing each other.. I secretly wanted those two to hook up.
What was the conversation in the deep roads, after Wynne guesses all the items in the Ale he gives her? Your my kind of woman I aught to take you over to a dark spot and give you .... (Wynne says More Ale?) paraphrased here.
It got me laughing for a while!

Honestly he's skippable but I prefer to get everyone that I can. To me the game pretty much forces you to set your party as two mages, one healer and one CC/DPS, one rogue so you can open chests and doors, and a tank. Sten is really meant to do 2h DPS and you already have alistar who with his Templar talents is already a better choice for a tank.
I disagree. I did the game with sword and shield warrior, alistar, shale, and wynne for most of the game and that worked just fine. That was also my party for the end game and I had no real probs.

I don't think it's a bug, he seems to have higher base attributes so you don't really lose out on the bonus from a specialisation. I used him as tank for a mage playthrough and it worked just fine, although other characters are better as main tanks, with Sten being specced for 2h weapons...
Oghren actually has 4 more (base) attribute points than Sten. The only advantage of Sten is that you get him earlier, so you have more control over his level up choices.
