they should make it like Dr. Who whenever he gets injured to badly he regenerates and you have to recreate him.
How will Shepard change his face this time?

I just hope we can change default shep's hair. It's been 4 going on 5 years and I'm sick of the buzz cut.

I have never used the default Shepard. I want to do it at least once but when it comes time I like to end up making my own Shepards.

To justify character redesign, the beginning of the game will have Shepard being attacked by a Shifty Looking Cow who eats his face off before the trial. Its a quick trip to the facial scar facility on the Normandy and you're good to go.

Probably just let us do it before we start the game.

I don't see the point of customize Shepard at the beginning. Just add a plastic surgery clinic
Anyway, I like to keep my Shepard as she is, but I'm glad I can change her hair, it's more realistic that way.

I think it would be kind of dumb not to put it in. Not everything needs an RP reason. Who says you're giving him/her a total makeover anyway? Maybe I just want to give him a little touch-up now that I have a bigger, clearer screen to see things with. On my old TV, I was connected via RF... Yeah, let's not get into that one.

Just give me the option at startup, I don't need a justification. Hell, I wouldn't mind if I could just walk up to the mirror in my quarters and change my appearance at will.

Renegade: Ignore the burning orphanage and instead decide to get a few touch ups at the local plastic surgery officeThat's what I think too. Frankly, another story explanation would feel forced. Poor Shepard is so unlucky he gets his face dismantled twice. Cliche. Just let us fix whatever we like before the game begins.-Skorpious- wrote...
Why can't we just edit our Shepard before the game? Not everything needs a grandiose explanation you know.
Shep will end up doing a Micheal Jackson, his face will begin to melt....

maybe the game will start with Shepard's prosecutors going over the case file that were you go over and recreate Shepard's Bio

Despite how much I like roleplaying, I think that this time, I'd rather not have a reason for the facial reconstruction and just have the character creator before the start of the game. It yanks me out of the game for twenty minutes trying to get it right. If there is an RP reason, get to it immediately like ME1. Having a long unskippable intro every time you want to slightly tweak Shep's cheek was terrible.

Dude i dont even find the face changing in ME canon. Its so ****ed up. its just i cant describe it. Its ****ed up in the head. Shep dies as a white man and gets resurrected as a black man. Shep = MJ? hell no.

After the events of arrival - Shepard reads a few threads in bioware social network an does an epic facepalm, thereby distorting his facial features and requiring a new makeover at the start of the ME3.

Prison beatings... >
Seriously though, can't it be "just because" for once...
We don't need convoluted explanations: I was happy for the way they integrated it into the plot in ME2, but for what it's worth, I always considered modifying the face a little retcon on my part and simply assumed Shep actually always looked that way...
Given how Miri was obsessed with bringing Shep back as he was, I always found it hard to believe she would mess up, of all things, on the physical appearance (you can't control morality, a damage to the brain may have changed something, but the face should have been easy to replicate without errors, or did all of Shep's photos suddently disappeared for the extranet when he died?)
So really, you are tired of Shep face? Change it and just pretend Shep always looked like that, no muss no fuss...

Well they did say they wanted to rebuild Shep as the way he was before he died. The game assumes that the new "black Shepard" was still the good old badass.

Hopefully no in-game explanation. And hopefully no long, unskippable cutscenes either. Just put the character creator at the very beginning of the game, pop up a tooltip window that says its there to allow players to make aesthetic improvements to their character if they want, and that Shepard will be assumed to have always looked like that. It's not lazy or unimaginative; it's practical and efficient.

I don't think you'll be able to change his face. Hair sure but not the face itself.
