Interesting to see all the support for Morinth. I myself sympathize with her but it is important to remember that she is not a victim.

Nor is Samara a hero. They are both ruthless, dangerous women that the galaxy would frankly be better off without.

That said, Morinth is entertaining and Samara is just boring. So it's an easy choice for me.

Morinth would be useful for manipulating the Republics vote in my favor.

The galaxy would be better off without someone saving lives and destroying the murderers and crime commiters?

No.

I prefer Samara. Morinth is crazy.

Doubtful since in theory a Justicar could kill a Justicar and still follow the code, unless there is something in the code that specifically forbids them from ever attacking another Justicar - regardless of what happens. Also, Samara had sworn an oath, so technically if Shepard wanted her dead...She'd be compelled to die.

No matter if you're paragon or renegade Shepard mass-murdered 300,000 Batarians men, women, elderly, and children.

Did Shepard really have a choice in that matter?  The Reapers where within two days of reaching the galaxy and was sedated for most of it.  300,005 batarians vs trillions.  What is the right call there?  No matter what, the Reapers are coming and Shepard knew that.  Paragon Shepard did try to warn them before Dr. Kenson cut the transmission.  That decision was not taken lightly.

Morinth care only for herself and only about herself.  Why anyone would want her with Shepard is something I just don't understand.

Maybe, but the "code" could certainly use a little flexibility.

That way Morinth will get in trouble. They will probably do something to her but leave you alone.

''This is Morinth and I killed Samara. If you don't like her or my decision the airlock is over there. And for more persistant persons here's my gun.'' Works better Imo.

I actually didn't see this thread earlier when I made my post. I choose Morinth in one of my playthroughs and was a little bummed when I heard they were cutting down the amount of teammates because I was curious about what might happen if Shepard and her were to hook up. She mentioned how she was curious if Shepard was strong enough to survive something no one else had been able to. Image that sex sequence in the game. Shepard would probably inherit her powers. Think about a soldier Shepard with a Asari's biotic powers also. Unstoppable.

Why in the world would Shepard inherit her powers??

I'm easy, don't worry. Sometimes you don;t get the intonation right when reading. ^_^

I was just surprised as to where that thought was comming from.

It's a renegade choice, so I would say: "Yes, I chose Morinth over Samara. I'm the one in command and I don't need someone who is going to chase me after the suicide mission because she didn't like my decisions. If you don't like it, here's the airlock".

How about having sex with Morinth with a gun in your hand? Just think about it!
Shepard pointing gun doing it: ''Don't even think about using your brain!''

Well, considering that Morinth has every intention of killing me, I see getting her in trouble and me not in trouble as a win-win. If you don't like Samara because she might try to kill you, she's dead. Her death is investigated? Why not take the opportunity to get rid of the other person who wants to kill you?

I just don't kill of people if they are useful, regardless of their intentions towards me. I think Morinth is more useful than Samara. I'd kill Morinth or get her in trouble if she said: ''Bye, I'm not helping you.''

Sorry, I don't see jaywalking and undertipping the pizza delivery guy as worthy of being destroyed.

Samara is utterly unflexible in her code, until she chills the hell out, I will absolutely select Morinth every time because at least I know where I stand with her.

A knight templar or a sociopathic serial killer.

I really hope she comes back for more than a cameo, found her interesting although they could have added more dialogue for her, I don't see the big deal about her being a serial killer, you're team is full of murderers, one more isn't going to change anything

LOL Some of you never saw the movie "Lifeforce" - you actually chose a space vampire over of a paladin.

And the Code of the Justicars is FAR more complex than just 'black and white' - anyone who paid attention to the fact that the Code allows for Samara to put aside the Code if she swears allegiance to Shepard - would know that.

"Your morals are my morals - your choices, my choice." (I paraphrase)

It may have been a convenient workaround by Bioware - but I also think it's a compelling addition to a strict moral code.

Morinth - lol. She murdered a young girl... and countless others (of course, only after hunting them). You renegades are such special folks...

I agree, Shepard has plausible deniablility.

I really hope they give more depth to Morinth, even as a temporary character. I was very disappointed with how little definition they gave her in Mass Effect 2. Sure, she is a murderer, but she is pretty much the only character in Mass Effect 2 with an alignment prerequisite to recruit, and generally I found her more interesting than Samara. That's good enough of a reason for her to be a part of my team.

In the end, hopefully the developers won't screw all the other players who chose her. The overwhelming majority of players in Mass Effect 2 obviously will choose Samara over Morinth, and even by default if you don't pass the alignment checks, you will always pick Samara. Morinth is a character deserving in a bit more development for the third game.
