With DAO just 72hrs or so from release -fangirl scream- I may make a Mage char... I did a human male and now I'm looking to create another

Sooo... stat wise.... is a female human better or a an elf better?

elves have a slight advantage in the begining, but in the long run it doesn't make a difference

I would say it all depends on how you want to use the Mage. Now perhaps someone else can give you better details on the matter but here's my guess. If you want a pure mage strong in magic I would say the elf because of the better race boost in magic/willpower but if you want say a arcane warrior type perhaps human because of the strength bonus etc. But you would do much more justice than I just by going to the wikipedia and checking out the race bonuses to make your decision.

Well just aesthetically I'm going human, Elves look ok in armor, but they just look odd in robes...their hips are not wide enough, and their arms are way too long. The stat difference is negligible imo.

Ya know a dwarf mage would be soooo sweeet. Perhaps they'll counter the Dragon Age lore with some new DLC in the future that somehow spawned the one and only dwarf not immune to magic, well I can hope anyways. : )

yeah... how come elves always get better magic stats anyways? My human mages always sucked in Oblivion... but a High Elf was practically built for a mage

I chose elf mage for my first for rp reasons, mages are sort of rejected in the world and I think that being an elf will double that

You wouldnt have to go "counter-lore" to have a Dwarven magic user as a previous post suggests...  Both books refer to Dwarven "Shapers". While not exactly Fireball flinging mages they do provide evidence of the Dwarven people using Magic.

No. This is a roleplaying game, not Fallout 3.

if you want a noble human mage, just type wizerd in the console and you go from a noble warrior to a mage.

This is what I am doing in my current game.

They also made great spell targets too.
