I agree about ME1, but I think ME2 give give you a reason to wait to go through the relay. Also I'm pretty sure you can't get "No One Left Behind if you go as soon as possible. If you go to the IFF and SM as soon as possible you can't do enough loyalty missions to have a loyal leader and biotic and tech.

You might be able to. I was actually playing yesterday and had just finished on the collector and had the option to go get the iff. Obviously I didn't take it but at that point I had miranda's loyalty, Kasumi's loyalty and still needed to recruit Samara. Had I immediately gone for the iff I would still have 2 missions  before the collector's take your crew in which I could have gotten Samara or Jack's loyalty.(And I think average hidden values would be high enough for everyone to hold the line right? maybe not.)

I don't understand...Why does everyone not get Legion last? Why the hurry to get the IFF? You get the IFF when you get him, though you still get 1 mission that you can do before going through the Omega relay, without losing the Normandy's crew, so you can do all the loyalty missions and still get the IFF and not lose anyone.

Ideally what I'd like is for there to be actual strategic decisions and consequences about what missions you need to prioritise, how long you can wait before making your move and all that stuff. Rather than just having the "option" of doing all the quests and getting the happy ending or not doing everything and getting a sucky one.

Wulfram, then they'd lose over half (or more) of their customers. The most people don't like an rush-hush game.

Why? Most games can be rushed when desired, it's not like you have to.

But having to is pretty much what Wulfram is talking about.

@Olymind, look at my screenshots. They're from the ME3 demo

i saw the vids, but in me2 you were forced to move quickly (iff, omega4), because if you don't, some of your shipmates died. and i don't like that. so if even in the galaxy map you have to hurry i think it is not a good thing.

I have to disagree with you here, I never felt forced or rushed to get the IFF or to go to the Omega 4 relay, in fact, multiple times druing those periods it is mentioned that you shouldn't proceed unless your really ready, I know you feel rushed ( or at least you feel a sense of urgency) because the crew was taken but I've never rushed into something, I had every loyalty mission completed before I even thought about the IFF.  Some things are going to happen at specific times, Like going to Horizon, basically you didn't have a choice when that happened but other than that you really have full reign over when you do something and I don't think the game is going to progress until either your ready or you get to a certain point in the game and by then you should have everything you need anyways or your doing something wrong.  I have never had any of my shipmates die and I took my time getting the IFF, maybe if you take to long going to the Omega 4 after they take your crew maybe some of them get "processed" but I haven't had that problem and I've played through the game at least 6 times.  My advice is to make sure you have all the missions complete and all your upgrades before you get the IFF then you won't lose any people.

There's no "rush" in what I'm proposing.  I'm certainly not saying you should be put on a real time clock which would count down as you complete your missions.  The constraint would be purely strategic.

And since this would be adding actual decisions - instead of a false choice between flawless victory and crappy ending - it would increase replayability.
