I agree. I wouldn't say either side was
outright in the wrong until the blitz, and even then that was because of
lack of council support and oversight.

Ryzaki is being biased toward a bunch of DATA. The date deos not care, what you do to the data has no impact on your real life. If you want to shoot every bit of data that looks a certain way, then I am all for you doing so. It is a game people, lighten up. We are talking about aliens, not humans of any kind. someone elses hatred of said aliens should not matter at all to you.

Some posters are taking this as a personal vendetta to have no hatred of any kind regarding fictional characters. These posters are wasting their time.

You miss my point.   It sounded as though he was saying you couldnt be racist toward another race IRL.  To which you can if you so choose.  In the real world, not everyone gets along.  Some folks are going to hate others simplly for existing.  Whether that is right or wrong is irrelevant.  It's a fact of life that this happens and will continue to happen as long as humans exist as they do

You are right it's not right or wrong to hate someone for race but it is stupid and pointless.

So you support a race who's whole caste system is reliant on slave trade?  Im no saint but slavery of any kind just fries me.  The only time Im ok with it is if the "slave" in question is there of their own free will.  Which no longer makes them a slave, but rather a "servant" or as they put it on Illium "Endentured Servitude". 

Which is why I felt zero remorse when I left 300,000 batarians to die during Arrival.  I actually like the Turians and Geth (that is the True Geth and not the Heretics). 

So, you would feel no remorse killing 300.000 Southerners, kids included. Just asking.

Irrelevant seeing as how southerners dont trade in slaves anymore.

Civil war era Southerners, to be exact.

Its still irrelevant.  You're using something from the past to justify something happening in the present (fiction aside)  But I suppose to answer the question in some fashion;  Yes, if I existed during that point in history, and had the means to do so, I would have wiped them all out.  Slavers deserve no less.

Also talking about fictional stuff is nothing new or just game related. This kind of discussions are done for centuries even by most intellectual people.

Why? Because it's an art and it makes you talk about fictional stuff and not just how story structure is done or cinematography or gameplay.

Ahhh and there's the clarification lol.  That changes the whole tone .  I see what you mean In regards to Shepard though and I agree that it is rather, odd, that no one says anything about it.  As to the other part, sorry about that,  didnt know you were a female

@ Some Geth - Stupid as it may be, it still happens and will continue to happen whether people like it or not.  Thats not me stating my view on racism one way or the other.  It's just me stating the truth.

I suspect that the batarians might be the new top dog after the reaper invasion. Thanks to Shepard and Failberus humanity are first on the menu and after that it could be logical to go after the real superpowers geth, asari, salarians and turians. The reapers will (probably) be defeated before they have eaten all of humanity so they won't come as far down the menu to batarians, krogan and quarians. Therefore they would survive relatively unharmed.

You know... A sequell about a galaxy subdued by batarians or/and krogan could be a good story actualy. I probably wont hate them then either. It's a harsh dog eat dog world in the galaxy and everyone except the Council races (who instead sucessfully joins forces against everyone else, watch and learn humans and batarians) tries to dominate everyone else. The batarians are just trying to survive and thrive, though the methods often seem counterproductive.

This is a game...what I do will not effect you in the least. Your Shepard will not suddenly become a racist if my Shepard does so.
Why are the people who are against a racist Shepard trying to persuade those that are fine and/or happy with having a racist shepard to change their ways? Why are people bringing up REAL EVENTS in HISTORY and asking other posters whether they would kill said groups as well? We gave our reasoning as to our opinions. That is all. We are not persuading you to be racist, just giving our reasoning.

My tour in Korea was spent mostly on the DMZ (which is literally the border) so I tend to not talk about North Korea as much as possible lol

While you can be racist in real life, maybe the point was that it's not acceptable to be racist in real life, at least not publicly.  Since everyone has their own biases, most people tend to hide their racist tendencies.  Anyways, you can be quite vocal about your hate of a fake alien race since, well, they're not real and (most) people probably won't really care.  Just a thought.

Anywho, I don't *hate* the batarians, but they're certainly not on my list of top species I like in the game.  People have pointed out why the Turians and geth aren't really hated (Garrus is awesome, most Turians in game are awesome, heretic geth group), but the batarians aren't really presented in a great light.  Even the ones that are "okay", are fairly grumpy or just don't really add any new good insight onto the Batarians.  I'm not saying that's enough to say "hey, let's kill at batarians!", but I can understand the hate.

Because as idiotic as it may be, some players try to apply RL morals to their characters.  I understand why they do it and I can respect it on some levels.  I dont agree with them in the slightest though for doing it, but I understand why they do.

Threatening to kill someone isn't really reasoning with them. It's merely coercing them through intimidation. Besides, taking hotages is not the action of a "reasonable" person. Daniel had no weapons and was no threat to anyone; cursory investigation of his presence outside the clinic would have revealed as much. The guy is a naive pacifist through and through; the batarians holding him hostage and threatening to kill him were just being impulsive, racist thugs looking to shoot first and ask questions later...or rather, probably not ask any questions. Just do the shooting part.
