Well they do seem to be working very hard on improving the combat and it doesn't seem likely they will introduce a feature universally hated in another game

ME2 had waves of enemies in most fights.

Waves of enemies. In every single gunfight.

You could says that DA2 gameplay were unchallenged and repetitive in ME2 it's worked the same way but more challenge and a bit of variety sometimes they didn't do same **** over and over again like enemies in DA2. I don't want to see most things from DA2 in ME2 such as dumbed down story, character, gameplay and recycle maps.

Please don't compare DA2 to any other BW game. It demeans us all.

I don't mind waves of enemies. I mind when they noticeably materialize out of nowhere.

And echoing the 'no recycled dungeons, please'. But ME2 already improved a lot on this over ME1, so I'm not that much worried.

Well at least we know that they're not going to cheap out on graphics and go cartoony then claim that it is a unique style...

You know they did this exact thing in ME1... then after getting loads of hate for it, made DA:O and ME2 have unique dungeons... then brought it back to DA2. Kind of baffles me.

(yes I know DA and ME are not being worked on by the same team)

The waves in DA2 were actually borrowed from ME2.  BioWare had the great idea that since ME2 did so well that it would be their new mass-production formula for all their new games and that they could now crank out a game a year using ME2 as the model of their assembly line approach.  The reaction to DA2 seems to have proved otherwise.  They're adding RPG elements back into ME3 and pushed the launch date back.  I think BioWare learned their lesson and is going back to the hand crafted approach to making games and at least for the moment have abandoned their assembly line approach.  I'm sure EA will get them to try again when they think we're not looking.

In the game they tried to explain it away by saying all those shelters were prefabs made by the same company.  Apparently they were so popular that even the Geth bought from that company too...

I don't really want anything from DA2 to carry over, except that it would be nice if my squadmates chatted to each other a lot more on missions, like in the Dragon Age games.

If I see loads of recycled environments in ME3, my copy is going back to the store...In my view (and probably a lot of other people's) its just laziness, pure and simple. Yeah ok, DA2 had a rushed development cycle...But with ME3, Bioware will have had over 2 years, they really have no excuse if this happens. However I'm fairly certain it wont happen *fingers crossed*

DA2 Do's:
Do give us a personality for Shepard that changes with dialogue not tied to the wheel
Do give us a female main character that actually looks feminine
Do give us icons to better define the different dialogue choices

DA2 Dont's:
Don't give us plastic looking hair (although it seems they've already addressed the issue)
Don't give us rehashed areas

That's all I can think of.

Wave based encounters have always been part of the combat. It was just well presented. There were a few doors or paths and enemies actually spawned from logical spots.

Not the "Did they just drop from the ceiling" moments from DAII.

Difference is that ME 1's repeating areas were all optional/sidequest areas.

I hated how I had to complete every SINGLE SIDEMISSION before being allowed to continue with the main plot. Who CARES if that guy needs help with his mine, just let me go on the damn expedition! I already gave you the map, the money, and even brought a Grey Warden with me!

Really? Waves worked fine in ME2 (such as the end of Kasumi's mission and the one on the shadow broker base). I personally don't want one recycled dungeon over and over again.

Don't forget the waves of husks on the collector ship, derelict reaper and the collector base. I think we'll be seeing a lot more of that stuff in ME3. Didn't really bother me though since I think the husk waves were nicely done and it felt like they were really climbing up to attack you from every direction.

I agree, I thought it had certain improvements from DAO. This is the ME forum though so I won't be going on about it.

Do give companions banter and real personalities
Do make our class actually have an impact on the story and cutscenes

Don't do anything not listed here

It's generally a very bad idea to dismiss a vague game design choice because a version of it didn't work well in another game.

This system existed in some locations in ME2, and it isn't annoying, unless you play in Insanity.

Wouldn't it be awesome to be walking down the Presidium, minding your own business, and then out of a sudden OMG 20 GUYS JUMP IN YOUR DIRECTION TO KILL YOU.

All ninja style, of course! Appearing out of nowhere and thin air! Because doors are too mainstream!

Suddenly, banana's enemies. Thousands of them!

It's not even annoying on insanity if you use your head and learn how to get around it (i.e. don't sit in cover and endlessly kill endlessly spawning bad guys--move forward)

I added two to your list (the bold ones), but otherwise I agree completely. The only real gripes I had with DA2 were the repetetive areas and the glitches. I still have no idea how bugs like that one with Merrill's personal quest got through Q&A.
