Hi,

A few days ago I bought Dragon Age II through GameTree (Digital Download), but apparently the game freezes up my system during the initial Cinematics on my MacPro. I was able to run the game on a MacBook Pro (company computer), but can't seem to run it on my personal MacPro. At first I thought my Graphics Card wasn't supported, but after checking that it wasn't in the list.

Here are my System Specs :

Model Name: Mac Pro
Model Identifier: MacPro2,1
Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Processor Speed: 3 GHz
Number Of Processors: 2
Total Number Of Cores: 8
L2 Cache (per processor): 8 MB
Memory: 8 GB
Bus Speed: 1,33 GHz
ATI Radeon X1900 XT:

  Chipset Model: ATY,RadeonX1900
  Type: GPU
  Bus: PCIe
  Slot: Slot-1
  PCIe Lane Width: x16
  VRAM (Total): 512 MB
  Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
  Device ID: 0x7249
  Revision ID: 0x0000
  ROM Revision: 113-A52027-140
  EFI Driver Version: 01.00.140
  Displays:
Cinema HD:
  Resolution: 2560 x 1600
  Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)
  Main Display: Yes
  Mirror: Off
  Online: Yes
  Rotation: Supported
Display Connector:
  Status: No Display Connected

As far as I can see the Radeon X1900 isn't in the list of unsupported Graphics Cards ... so the game should run (if it was in there I wouldn't have bought the game in the first place). Any idea what could be causing this problem ? I havn't been able to play the game on my own computer at all :[

Regards,

Stefaan

your problem seems to be the same as in this thread:
social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/9/index/503684/1

So, In my opinion, it is because of the problem existing with some ATI card series, some of them seems to not support for gaming. The Macbook Pro that you mentioned can be played because its graphics card is NVidia series, which has some specs that support the Dragon Age graphics. I myself have a Macbook Pro with Nvidia series and can run the game without any notable issues.

Maybe you can find one of the solution in this thread:

You can try to contact to the moderator, someone who is expert at graphics cards, or participate in some ATI forums to see what the problem is.
