Africa is one of the most prominent land masses on the equator. The equator is where you'd build space elevators. If Africa could put its natural wealth to good use, it would easily be a major world power in the 22nd century.

i find this thread entertaining.

So many people are upset because someone said negative comments about a continent for crying out loud. I do believe that of all the inhabited continents, Africa is by far the least advanced in this day and time. Not because of any race or culture, but because of the technologically impaired countries that are part of Africa as a whole. What Africa looks like in the Mass Effect universe is anyone's guess (besides the devs since they can, you know, create said look), and as such this fact about Africa could be changed by the time period.

What i disliked about the OP was the title of the thread and the content relating to the Reapers staying away. No Reapers kill everyone...if they were not they would be racist (apparantly -.-)

To those that take this thread personally, please grow a thicker skin. Nothing wrong was said, accept facts for facts and opinions for opinions.

EDIT: to add to this, any personal stories about family members, friends, or other individuals living in Africa are useless. First off that is Biased. Secondly, we as a community know little about said people, nor care about them in the slightest. Third, we do not know which country in Africa your family, etc. lives in. Not much help when you are talking about someone who lived in Egypt or other technologically advanced countries. The Fact of the matter is that not everywhere in Africa has the same technology as other continents.

I can also say that Haiti would be in the same state. Nothing about the people, it is about the living conditions. Your country could be inhabitted by humans who are blue with green stripes, said country is still in this state if the living conditions are below par.

actually, while the OP does seem like a troll he does have a point. All that an invading alien race would have to do is observe the globe at night. The places that would be the highest attack priority would be the places with most light. Africa, has very, very, little. Interior, next to none.
