 Greeteings everyone,
I'm on my 3rd playthrough and i have just crossed the gorge at ostagar and after you meet the guard and mage you come across two soldiers in combat woth the darkspawn. However i can never seem to save them, is this just lack of skill? or are they scripted to die?

I am a firm believer in that if they can be saved i will do all i can to save them so i will have to keep repeating this part to see if i can.

Any help would be appreciated,
                                                        thanks, Raven

Derp.  Will improve reading skills before answering next time.

*Those* guards I don't know about.  I doubt it's exactly scripted, but they might spawn with a tiny number of Health points so that they'll die almost immediately.

That could explain why they die so easily, i shall keep trying for a while,

I'm pretty sure I've saved some of the guards, but I'm not sure if I've saved all of the guards or the particular ones you mean. Sorry. :/

You can save them if you kill fast enough or can get the darkspawn to leave them for your party. Those npcs must have low health and thus you must be able to come to their aid a.s.a.p.

The mage doesn't have a heal spell. They're built for damage/control.

If You Have A Mage You Should Try Using Projectile Attacks That Knock Them Back And Then Kill Them
Hope This Help

They probably die anyway, after the events in the tower. While it might be nice to keep them alive, it has no effect on the story.

Only way I've ever been able to keep them all alive is when my PC's a mage with heal and regenerate, but it's definitely possible. My non-mages tend to only save one from each pair of soldiers, if that.
