With advanced apologies for probable redundancy, can someone point me to the threads or information that will let me get the Mass Effect (1) DLC through my Steam installation? I've been prodding around here for a while and I seem to be stuck.

I can't register my Mass Effect CD key because of a problem with the CD Key registration tool accessed through the old site. I found a thread where several people were having this problem, going up to 2009, but of course all those forums are locked off now.

I guess the short version is will I be unable to access the DLC for Mass Effect because I used Steam to get the game, now, and there's no longer any way to register that (older) game? I can't find any place in the SocialNetwork to register the original Mass Effect.

Thanks for any help...

another thread about the same issue, in which the person ended up contacting EA.com/support to get a valid key to register. Steam has a major issue with the keys they give as in none work. So my suggestion is to hop over to EA.com and either do email support or my favorite the live chat(I have had very good service with live chat so far). EA is the official help line anyway and they are the only ones that really have a hope of helping you.

The information I had was that EA is where the bad numbers originated in the first place.

Thanks everyone! I went to EA and did a live chat and was able to get a new key. The support person called it a "one time rare exception" (which is a bit of a head scratcher), but I was able to successfully install - once I realized you have to drop the DLC installer into the Mass Effect (Steam) folder directly, for the installation to work.
