Books are canon. End of story.
Thus Omega was originaly build by the Reapers just as the Citadel was. I, myself was thinking about this OP. Chances are high the station will play a role in ME3.

Especially now that TIM has an alliance with Aria.

During the book Mass Effect: Retribution, the Reapers speak through the story's protagonist, and it is during one of these instances that we find out that like the Citadel, Omega is another Reaper construct. What role do you think this will play in ME3.  And before anyone says "NUUUOOo, da Codex says Omega was made by da protheans stoopid!"  Remember, that the codex also says the Citadel was made by the protheans and that the Reapers are a myth.

It's been a long time since I read Retribution but I don't remember reading anything about Omega being a reaper construct.

Mwah, since TIM 'forgot' to tell Aria some important parts about Grayson, causing her to lose a lot of men, I don't think it's an alliance. Only thing that's sure that TIM bought back the data he lost during the Turian assault on his research station where Cerberus experimented on Grayson.

But the Collector Base was away from the
eyes of civilized space so why would the Reapers care about the quality
of the architecture.  If Omega was in fact a Reaper constuct I believe
it would share more similarities with the Citadel and the Relays because
species would interact with it more.

Not necessarily. If the Reapers meant it as an refuge, it wouldn't need to be ordinary outlined. More the opposite. Besides, the Protheans mined it too and so do a lot of 'modern' races, (retro)fitting new parts to the station, so the original design might have been long since modified through the chaos of criminals, refugees, miners etc working on the station.

It was when the reapers were speaking through Grayson. They didn't flat out say it but they hinted to it. Some one was kind enough to put the quote on a post on the first page

I don't think there is any kind of friendship between Aria and Cerberbus... I mean she might have been shocked about her dauther's death but Aria does have her own information network... and Shepard might have a lot of data on Cerberus missions and actions in his possesion. Imagine how pissed she would be if she learned who actualy killed her kid.

Also, what was said, TIM used Aria and her men like a tool and I don't think she would allow that to happen again.

I just read the quote and it looks like you may be right.  It is kind of convenient that Omega would be in the same system as the omega 4 relay and the only times that collectors were encountered prior to ME 2 would be on omega

I dont think the reapers built Omega, but i do belive the watch it beening built so mybe the have a copy of the blueprint of it. Remember Soverign did say that after each cycle there is one reper left behind to begain the next one.

I don't know it's location was a little convenient and their collector minions did make use of it.

This could be a plot-device to make Aria relevant to the invasion. But i doubt that omega is a weapon, hell the only super weapon i wanna see the the great rift gun, and maybe the krogan super-biotics, dude that would be awesome 0.o

I think if it were built by the Reapers, it would be built as a counterpart to the Citadel; the Citadel is the 'legitimate' center of government, whereas Omega is a lawless place. This would be useful because whatever Collector style aliens the Reapers were using would then be able to deal directly with the outlaws of society who would be easier to persuade to cooperate than the official governments - therefore they would be able to collect up their weird requests without the government interfering.

It could be convenient but i doubt the collectors made use of it . There just puppets to real enemy.

I think the 'blueprint' is referring to technology and architecture in general, not just the station. The station is based on Reaper technology, but they didn't build it.

I'm going with the codex on this one. It's just a big hollowed-out rock that the galaxy mined.
