I am currently on, for what I can
presume, the last part of the Collector Ship mission.  I assume
its the last part because Joker radios and tells me to hurry and get
back, the weapon systems are coming online.  Anyways, after the
fight with the Husks, I see my shuttle sitting in a room at the
bottom of the descending hallway that the husks were on.  When
I set foot into the room the screen fades black and I can
still hear the sounds, and I can access the menu.  I am
unable to save at this point or any other point, post husk fight.
The screen will stay black for a while.. I gave it 30 seconds or
so and it did not budge, but the game never locked up.  I have
current Dx11, Current ATI drivers, I have tried to load in from
two separate points in the level, one from the auto save from the
fight before the husk fight, and the other, a save which I made
before the husks but after the auto save.  I have
reinstalled the game via Steam,  as well as successfully
validating all files using Steam.  I am using an Asus G73
laptop and the game runs beautifully. There is no over heating and
the issue occurs in the exact same spot, no matter how long I wait
before or how quickly I am able to enter the room,(I have ran into
the room before killing husks a couple of times as well as dieing in
the room). I have also tried to change video options.

I am out of ideas, and hoping that
someone may be able to help or at least brainstorm a reason or fix.

System Specs:
Intel I7 Q740
4gigs ram
ATI Radeon HD 5800
Windows 7 64bit

Any help is appreciated

Get rid of any Asus software. It causes these conflicts. One bad one is "Doctor" something. I don't immediately recall the other bad one.

Crashes in the exact same spot are normally indicative of corrupt files. If you have already verified your Steam cache, then it could be a corrupted save, and I would suggest loading a save from before you jump onto the Collector Ship.

Whats the actual Catalyst revision number of your video drivers?
What is your audio device? If Realtek HD, then download and install the latest driver fro mAUS or Realtek's website, as the one which comes packaged in Win7 is as buggy as hell, and causes weird glitches.

I'm still thinking it's a conflict.  Log out of the game's 'Net connection, and follow the Microsoft Clean Boot procedures to see if the game runs when nothing else at all is running at the same time.  There are half a dozen very common programs, including the Comodo Firewall and a couple of different AV utilities that can do this.  When it does work (that is, having thought of another thing), test to see which program is at fault.

You may also have ended up with a damaged save, and need to go back further to the next older save (you don't want to try to depend on any save that you've Quick-saved frequently; the process seems to accumulate small corruptions, making manual saves ever so much better).
