Hi
I´m a huge fan of DAO and have just bought DAII. Do I need to take the quests in a certain line of order, or is that irrelevant?
Is there a special quest order?

There are a few quests that require some sequence, or are triggered based on the completion of other quests. For example, if you want to recruit Isabela in Act 1, you have to first recruit Anders. In Act 3, I don't think you can get Merrill's quest until you complete Varric's.
You'll get (at least) one main Act-specific quest at the beginning of each Act, and then acquire a bunch of smaller ones either from talking with NPCs or getting letters. You may want to leave the main plot quests until after you've handled a few of the smaller ones, but that's just my suggestion.

Basically what Whykikyouwhy means is that to a point there is specific quests you have to do so the story even progresses. Others are optional. So for example some quests are just for progressing the story directly. In Act 1 don't complete the talking to Bartrand to start the deep roads expedition unless you are sure you're ready to go. It will wipe all out all the quests you haven't finished and end the act.

Because of the friendship/Rivalry thing I would say yes,
Lookup the quest before starting them and take the right companions, you wont regret it
