Another Blood Dragon Armor / unloadable saves problem

I've searched around and found some problems similar to mine, but nothing similar enough for me to know what to do here.

My girlfriend and I are playing through Dragon Age together by keeping our saves and XBox account on a usb stick, so we can play at either of our places. We usually play at hers, but recently used my housemate's xbox. Apparently just saving our game on that xbox makes our saves unloadable on one that doesn't have all the same DLC, which includes the Blood Dragon armor. The copy of Dragon Age at my gf's place was bought by her housemate via the games marketplace and says he never got any special code for the armor.

So, basically, it seems like unless we can either convince DA that we really don't care about the special armor in our save (from what I've read, isn't DLC supposed to be associated with an individual's account? how could we even acquire a dependency on my housemate's dlc while using our account?) or get a code for said armor, we're stuck.

I'd gladly throw a reasonable amount of money at EA to solve this problem... if they would only let me. :(

Does anyone have any advice here?

The issue isn't too dissimilar to the most recent thread as far as I am concerned, though your actual circumstances are different.

Let me get this right, because if I am wrong then any aid is perhaps worthless.

You and your girlfriend keep your DA saves on a USB drive along with your Gamertag(s)? (Here I am querying whether you have separate Gamertags or you share one though this might not be important at this time.) This enables you to play on her 360 or yours for convenience.

You used your housemate's 360 which has different dlc from what you have. (This is the crux of the problem I believe.) Subsequently you saved a game with different dlc on their 360.

What you need to understand is this: while it is true that dlcs are registered to different Gamertags, anyone using the same console as that Gamertag which bought dlcs also have access to the dlc. In your case, you had usage access but no content of your own (if that makes any sense; sort of like driving someone else's car or something). If that wasn't the case, then a household would have to purchase the same dlc (whether that is a proper game on XBox Live marketplace or the more common sort we are dealing with here) for every single Gamertag on the console. Anyway...the game would probably then update the dlc available to it and assumes it is available to it at all times.

Now that you went back to your (and your girlfriend's) 360, the game can no longer find the dlc it had access to. This is admittedly speculation on my part but (my vanity dictates that) I am probably right.

Two things now spring to mind: (1) Have you got a save game available which was before you played on your housemate's 360? If you do, I would suggest loading that to see whether the dlc unavailable to you has effected that save. If it hasn't, then delete your 'corrupted' save (the one you made on your housemate's 360) and replay again.

(2) Buy the dlcs that are missing. Not the most elegant of solutions and the Blood Dragon armour isn't available to purchase last time I looked. If it is just the Blood Dragon armour, perhaps it is worth contacting EA support to see if they can authorise it for you.

That's all I can come with for now.

I have this same problem. My husband has the armor dlc and I don't. When he turns on the xbox and plays any game, it automatically gives me the armor, the next time I play dragon age. If I take my memory stick out of the xbox and put it in a different one, I can't download the dlc. I actually have an unused armor code, but unfortunately it expired in April of last year. I sold the armor once and then this happened again and I just destroyed the armor, still didn't help. I can't even play any of the other dlc's or awakening because of the armor download.

Did support help you?

As far as I can tell, megski, your problem is a lot simpler. (It remains to be seen whether usernamenumber got their problem resolved.) From what I can discern from the information you have provided the following are true:

(1) Your husband redeemed the Blood Dragon armour on his Gamertag on 'his' 360.

(2) When you play on 'his' 360, you get the Blood Dragon armour.

(3) You keep your saves on a USB stick so you can use them on a different 360.

(4) Problem occurs when you try to play Dragon Age on a different 360.

(5) You cannot download the Blood Dragon armour.

(6) You have your own Gamertag.

Some don't appreciate it but I will give an explanation as to why.(Having been insulted for giving explanations for why something doesn't work has left me rather apathetic to fellow gamers' plights.)

Dlcs follow consoles and Gamertags. Said dlc is on your husband's Gamertag, and that Gamertag is native to 'his' console. On that same console, you can access any dlc he has registered on his Gamertag on 'his' console. (It makes no sense for the same console to have several purchases of the same software.) On a different console you immediately lose such dlc sharing privileges.

The game also recognises what dlc is available to it. Having played on 'his' 360 your save games recognises that the Blood Dragon armour should be in the game regardless of what you have done with it. That is why the problem occurs for you.

Now addressing specific points: with regards to (5) you cannot download it on your Gamertag because it is not your dlc. Only your husband's Gamertag can do that.

Possible solutions.

(A) You mentioned having your own code for the Blood Dragon armour. Have you tried to redeem it? There is no harm in doing so to see if the system accepts it. It might be worth asking EA support to see if they can activate a copy of the armour for you.

And if you do then you will have your own armour. This will not help with playing the other dlcs though. It also depends on whether you have any of the unlockable weapons from the other campaigns: if you do you still have a problem.

(B) Is 'his' 360 always online?

I ask this because I believe there could be a work around if I understand how these things work, though a bit fiddly. It would require him to recover his Gamertag on 'your' 360 whilst online; making all dlcs native to 'your' 360. This will enable you to access his dlcs. However, if he does this 'his' 360 will technically be bereft of his content; but if 'his' 360 is permanently, or close to it, online and he signs into his Gamertag he should be able to access his content.

© Making my (B) suggestion defunct: you and your husband swap 360s.

(D) Not the most financially sensible, but one which the economy would thank you for, purchase all the dlcs yourself.

That's all I can think of for now.

That's exactly what the problem is. He accidentally bought a ton of microsoft points one night, so when all the DLC's came out, I just used his account to buy them, since we shared an xbox at that time. It wasn't a problem, every once in a while when I signed in, it would tell me the DLC was corrupt and I would just sign in under him and download them again. It kept getting worse with error messages and frustrating, so I purchased all the DLC's for my gamertag. No matter what I do to try and avoid it, I always end up with the blood dragon DLC, (its like the gift that keeps on giving, haha). It wasn't really a problem, because I could just recover or swap our memory sticks and get it when I needed to, but now its a constant error message no matter where I play. Its like it knows that we're sharing that DLC and keeps saying "no!".

I contacted support last night and the person I was chatting with didn't know what I was talking about. I thought that I had an unused code, but it turns out the code I have is registered under his gamertag. First support told me that the code doesn't have an expiration date, but it does. They told me to download the blood dragon armor off marketplace, so I just gave up. I will try calling support today instead of chatting so I can fix it.

OK. So in addition to what I discerned from my earlier post you are telling me you also bought all the dlc under your own Gamertag? The thought behind that is, I assume, to circumvent the Blood Dragon armour issue. (As I suggested above in (A) I had my doubts that would work.)

The problem now becomes this I believe: there is only one code for the Blood Dragon armour which is associated with your husband's Gamertag.

I will admit it puzzles me that you have access problems even on his 360 (I can now drop the inverted commas now....) as any and all dlcs should be available to any user on that console which the owner Gamertag belongs to. (I confess I'm not sure what can be done about that other than suggest that he or you try to recover his Gamertag on his 360.)

I would suggest that you mention to EA support when you do contact them is that only the lack of your own copy of the Blood Dragon armour is an issue. If they can add that to your account then it should solve the problem for you.

I would also suggest that you mention that you have bought your own copies of the dlc implying that you are a good customer (have your Gamertag and EA account info on the ready to prove it), and if you can get your husband to chip in with what he has as well I'd like to think it should adequately persuade them to enable the Blood Dragon armour on your account so you can continue playing the game.

Good luck.
