I just beat the game with a battle mage with no other spec. Healing is useless because of the new "can't dps while in the mode" thing, and blood magic, I don't like it because of statting issues, as well as it taking all your mana.
I liked the DA:O mage specs better, except for batttle mage.. Low gravity, pull of the abyss, glyph of paralysis, and force of the maker+brittle, then the AoE dps spells made me really enjoy combat; I was a CC dmg badass

...Anyyyyyyyyywaay, what should i play next?

1) Archer
2) traditional dagger rogue
3)dps warrior (optimized for fun factor)
Also, should i try a female playthrough?

...How would i stat/build the characters (especially warrior, as I'm clueless about them. (skill wise)..)

...What is the optimal party for your choice? (I ALWAYS bring varric) Last playthrough i was me, anders for healing/dps, varric, and feneris as my 2h tank, and i enjoyed it.
(optimization and fun factor/banter)

I kinda want to try siding with the templars to see what happens, even though I'm totally against it, but don't spoil it. :)

I started wtih 2-H Berserker / Reaver with attributes going mostly to willpower and the pre-req strength and constitution for some equipment although that build was more fun when Sacrifical Frenzy gave you 400% dmg :] I'm trying a female archer rogue playthrough now and so far it's been a lot of fun.. not too sure on how to build a good one but i'm trying to fumble my way to something fun

So aye those 2 are fun to play, Imo

I did a warrior just to a save, and 2h combat felt kinda slow as a main char, but I guess i didn't have many skills, or any specilizations

ah hm well u can get upto like +200% speed.. +50% from Barrage in berserk, +50% from Haste- you can probably stack 2 if u use Bethany and Anders, right? -- +37% from the lyrium rune and then +30% from Fervor in Reaver.. that whole added up to a fun Act 3, Imo : )

Oh hm, I've never tried the templar spec to be honest :s but I think there's someway to make them good using that Silence thing or something but I dun know jack about that ^^ Maybe it's even more fun than Berserker/Reaver since that got nerfed in the 1.3 patch

Templar is really good for mid to late game when you start fighting a lot of fade creatures and mages. Plus, the ability to silence makes killing off rogues and blood mages a lot less of a hassle.

No, Berderker/Reaver will beat it spike DPS. The trade-off is Crowd Control and DPS against Demons and Undead.
