Talk about a Samus Aran situation from the 1st two Metroid Prime games. Heck, I'm glad that we get to import weapons from ME 2 to ME 3 in addition to the basic powers that we'll be getting back.

It probably just be some kind of analyze by the Alliance, some kind of rebuild of his profiles and information. Like DNA scanners and ****. Needing to fill up his data again cause he been dead for like...2 years. They need to look him up. Good time for "insert information" Bit like ME1!

Mmm yes, to Da Mecca you listen! Seriously, there doesn't need to be a reason beyond ME1's 'database error, please fill in the forms Shep'.

Shepard's death and resurrection served an important plot purpose in ME2 (and I kinda hope there is reference to it at least in ME3) but there doesn't need to be an elaborate explanation as to why we can give our Shepard longer hair (confirmed new hair styles a while back yaaaay).

Plus I just love the idea of Shepard having to sit there filling out forms because they got erased by mistake "I hate paperwork damnit!"

Agreed. For players who only have one or two saves to import, I feel it is important for gameplay to be able to change class. Creating some sort of explaination of how this works is just likely to come off as lame.

Don't want a contrived in-game reason, just throw up the character creator at the start of the game after the import and before the game starts and all's well.

Better yet, how about some more aged looking options so that Shep can get a full grown Zeus beard. Something like passing through the Omega relay accelerated his aging (including squadmates.)

I hope you can't redo your entire facial structure, just hair and some minor cosmetic changes. I don't really care, I'm keeping my Shepard looking the same as he has for the last two games.

According to the Caseynator, the trials are going to be set in a city that's analogous to Vancouver. Since the Mass Effect future is a positive one, that means that ice hockey has once again risen to one of the top three sports in the civilized world-- as is it's destiny. Clearly, the game starts off with Shepard taking a break from the trials to skate around a bit.

Being rusty from all that time in space, Shepard probably takes a puck to the face.

I admire your conviction. Nonetheless, here's hoping the option exists for those of us who just couldn't nail down the perfect Shepard in ME2;)
