 Has it been fixed? I stopped playing it months ago because it was such a game breaker. Have they sent out an update that fixed this annoyance.  Or should I just hang this game up for good?

Yes but its no retroactive meaning if you already started a file with the glitch it'll still be there.
The patches just prevent it from happening.

The 1.03 patch fixes it retroactively also, so you should be good.
