The ending of Mass Effect 3:

billions of years ago, the galaxy was at the height of its technological advancement.
Then, as always, a war broke out...
The war span across the entire galaxy and lasted for hundreds of years. At the end of the conflict, only a few organic civilizations remained. Those that did, joined together, and used what few resources they had left, and built giant sentient machines that would return every fifty thousand years, and harvest all organic life in the galaxy. Why they did this is a mystery. Maybe to stop us from destroying ourselves.

Very similar to the information revealed on "ilos" at the end of the first Mass Effect.
How the scientists joined together to build the Conduit after the reapers had left, and to keep them from returning through the Citadel once more.

It makes sense to me because it also gives us an answer as to WHY the reapers "Left behind" all this Tech'...or so we thought.

What do you think?
