So much respect towards BioWare & Electronic Arts for having the balls to go through with this! I haven't seen many games that have home-sexual relationships, even with supporting characters, and with such a popular franchise like Mass Effect I am glad they're deciding to add more diversity/options for "other" players.I think my only concern is them making it cheesy. So far romance in the Mass Effect games have been nothing more than a few dialog interactions and a implied sex scene, the last thing I want is for the gay option to be for shock value...I hope that they add some more depth to the romance portion, straight or gay make it more rewarding.

edit: please don't troll or go off-topic or else I get blamed :crying:

I doubt it will be cheesy. Unless of course Jacob is an option and he gets the prize.

Nah, he'll have a brand new, cheesey line, like;
"Once you go black, all you'll see is my back."

There are quite a few that do.

Just hope they introduce new bi romances, Bioware, please don't retcon any previous romances like Miranda or Kaiden

I much rather prefer the introduction of homosexual characters than ignoring gender completely by making every character bi-sexual. Having every character hit on you gets a little crazy.

Miranda nor Kaidan ever declaired they were straight. Not a retcon.

Quite a few have mentioned this. I support this idea as well.

I don't think that's in the cards.

No, it's character development. There's no reason that a character can't develop feelings for another character after knowing them for a while.

Example: I was just friends with my wife for 6 years before we started dating. That doesn't make our relationship a retcon, it means that our feelings developed over time.

Alright, just checking. I had a discussion about this before and some said that the Tali and Garrus romances were retcons but making Ashley and Kaidan bi would not be retconning. I just wanted to see what you thought. Thanks.

Don't worry about DA2, it's a totally different dev team and different writers. if Miranda or Kaidan or any other character declares they have feelings they've been hiding, I trust the Mass Effect team to handle it well. They've never let me down before with regard to characters or story.

This made me laugh xD

Anyway, there's no retconning unless some character explictly stated he/she is exclusively straight.

Whoever told you that is just sily. It's a false dichotomy to say that either someone declares their feelings right away, or they can never have them. It doesn't make any sense in a realistic fluid relationship atmosphere. People develop feelings over time, and they may not be comfortable revealing them right away.

I think the Tali romance was handled beautifully, don't you? It was really sweet and cute and above all, believable. I have faith in the writers to handle the same sex romance just as well, no matter who it is.

Agreed.

I have no problems with established characters *coughJOKERcough* but established romances should be left alone.

Ask around, you'd be surprised who believes that.

I agree completely. The only thing I'm worried about is how the writers will handle it (other than that, I don't care).
And also some people will just complain either way.
