Then explain without using the Wiki how they work. Only with the Codex. I'm led to believe that everything was fleshed out and elaborated on perfectly in ME1. So perfectly, that ME2 somehow ruined it.
Explained right there in the Kinetic Barrier codex entry in ME1. They only react to quick moving objects striking the barrier such as bullets and debris/shrapnel from explosions, not slow moving objects such as air. Hence the wearer can sit on a chair without knocking it away, but is also poorly protected from the elements and hard vacuum without a hard suit.
Hmm, well okay. I'll believe your explanation. For now. Still don't trust that Codex. It's been giving me the eye lately.

How can she prefer to wear heavy armor if she never learns how to use it? If she really prefers heavy armor then why isn't she WEARING it when you first encounter her?
Did you ever played Mass Effect 1?Shepard never wears light armor in ME2 either. Because there is no such thing as light, medium, or heavy armor anymore. He just wears armor.
No, he/she does wear either light or medium armor.
Also Grunt and Garrus wear heavy armor while Tali and Liara wear light armor. Also, you remember a few pages ago how you expressed dissapointment at Miranda because you needed a DLC to get her in "heavy" armor?
Miranda is a Biotic.
I just thought you should know.
I said armor, not heavy armor.
Also Miranda is wearing medium armor while Liara light one.
What Ashley is wearing isn't even an armor, it's catsuit without heels.
Ah, so armor only gets a classification when it works towards your argument. Also, you're the only one that is allowed to decide if armor if light, medium, or heavy, despite the fact that no armor in the game contains such labels.
That makes sense.
Did YOU ever played mass effect 1?

I think asking Casey about it would be more productive, and bringing up some of the issues raised in this thread, without using terms like "deal breaker" would be the right way to reach devs on this matter.
For the record, I like Ashley's new armor, but I want all my squadmates to wear practical armor in combat. I don't like exposed skin or breather masks for any character.
People have asked Casey but he hasn't responded.

Thank you.
This says it all.
Ashley would never wear a catsuit to a fight. What the hell bioware?!
Actually, I find it very aptly sums up this aspect of her character.
There is more to her than this, obviously, but that is not relevent here.
Oh wait ... She changes her mind at the end of M1. She has evolved at the end. Do you see this logic limited ?
3 years have passed. 25 years to 28/29 years. She may have become a bit more mature and serious now is not it ?
I also want armor for Ashley, so I'm not really against your will. Rather, your claim to say that Ashley is " like that and not otherwise ", that troubles me. What I read everywhere.

There's also the possibility that some of us just don't give a damn. Did Miranda's outfit bother me a little bit in ME2? Yeah. Did the spacebreathers bother me? Yeah. Do I wish Ashely was wearing heavy armor? Yeah.
Deal-breaking, though? No. ME2 was awesome on so many levels that such a minor thing wasn't close to being a problem for me, and I'm sure ME3 will continue that trend. Ashely's appearance is but a small fraction of the reason I loved her character before; as long as she's the strong, indepedent, capable woman she was before, she can wear just about anything she wants and still kick ass.
I agree but Miranda and Samara outfits were shame on Bioware.
And despite the feedback of that and giving armor to Liara and Miranda they went step backwards with Ashley's new outfit.
If we don't say we don't want this in ME3, it's gonna be in ME3 and people will complain then too late. Then is shame on us.
It's not deal braking but still annoying.

Maybe Ashley just doesn't want to wear Heavy Armor anymore, she changed her mind and now she wants to look good while shooting things. Humans change their minds and tastes all the time....and she is supposed to be a human, right?
And about high heels....I've been seeing lots of people saying women can't run in them and stuff like that. That is complete bull****. I've seen lots of women running in high heels. Hell, I have a friend who's a transvestite and he can run and dance in high heels with no problem. Lady Gaga did her whole tour in high heels. So yeah, you guys just need to get out more.

It may seem minor to you, but the fact is to many of us it makes a complete mockery and farce of a mostly otherwise solid and well-thought-out sci-fi universe. I ask you: how would you feel about the consistency and integrity of the Mass Effect universe if suddenly in ME3 quarians walked around anywhere and everywhere wearing normal getup instead of their environmental suits for no real reason and with no explanation?
LOL!
Quarians sucker punch evolutionary biology and especially imunology so hard in the testicles that it's probably the most awesome contradiction ever to put well thought out sci fi and quarians next to each other.
ME (and I'm taking ME1 here, not the horror that was ME2) looks biology in the eye and spits on it with just about every race, but the quarians are a special breed of biology can go F-itself.
Because if you actually think about it properly and not just at a glance, it's on pretty much the same level as far as IP inconsitency, impracticality and stupidity goes.
Do you value consistency over coherence? Because, again, there's just no way to recognize 1) quarian immunology exist as described in the ME lore; 2) mass effect has 'well thought out' sci-fi lore.
