Tip for fans: embrace change, previous games don't go away but new games bring new possibilities.
^ This. So very true.
Mhm. Any video game fan should embrace these words because change is just part of the industry, whether you like it or not. Adapt or get left behind, basically.
Anyway, FWIW, as a woman, I have never been bothered by the outfits in the ME series, I'd hardly label even Miranda's catsuit as overly-sexualised. Trust me, I've seen much worse in other games. We're almost spoiled here, seeing as FemShep is treated equally to ManShep (in terms of appearance, though the topic of seperate animations is best suited for another thread).
And as a sci-fi fan, I accept that it doesn't make sense for the skin-exposure and the rebreather masks to be present but at the end of the day it doesn't bother me that much. There is much, much more to these games than the realism factor, we could nit-pick endlessly about what things make sense in the real world and what things don't.
As long as the gameplay is enjoyable and there is enough depth added to the story and characters, what do I care about a tiny bit of artistic license here or there?
I don't feel offended as woman at how the women are treated in this franchise. I do not feel bothered that Ashley has a new look (of which we have seen very little of so far). I am slightly bothered that there may be some inconsistency with Ashley's character but a woman can change a lot in two or three years, and that's really up to the writers and artists who have created that character isn't it?
Maybe I'm a minority here but.. it just astounds me to see the gameplay director being borderline attacked for defending the direction her game is going in.
