I did not like Miranda's, Jacob's, Samara's, and to a lesser extent Jack's, ME2 outfits. However, as ME2 is on store shelves, there is nothing I can do about it at this point. Plus, when I said "it can both ways" Jacob was one of the examples I had in mind for his poor "sex sells" appearance.

Right, I apologize.

Miranda's ass, and Jacob's abs are "part of" their personality. For Miranda, it's the perfect woman look, for Jacob, it's the muscular/ex-military/"bro-marine" look.

Samara gives me the "ancient Egyptian female priest" feeling. She really does.

However, I don't like Ashley's outfit. Bioware doesn't have to "compromise artistic vision" to suit my needs, but that doesn't mean I have to passively accept and stay silent about every change they make without providing feedback. Besides, I am not advocating that Bioware scrap Ashley's current armor, but develop a heavier varient as an alternate outfit.

Everybody wins.

Feedback is good.

Direction and asking for fan service is not.

Just look at the title of the thread.

I've watched the demos a few times now, and I note that Ashley isn't wearing heels or a catsuit. Her armor looks somewhere between ME1's light and medium armor. It looks fine - I find it staggering that people are actually harassing the dev's over this.

2 thumbs up for the catsuit and the ammo powers guess what you'll have to live with them.

Really?  The fact that a cutscene forces Miranda's posterior into the foreground, where it takes up a large part of my screen, is my fault?  Because that's the only thing that ever makes it difficult for me to overlook her ass - you know, when it's blatantly being shoved in my face.

May Ashley never, ever be subjected to this "artistic" treatment.

EDIT: Ninja'd by Eski.Moe, but it's worth repeating all the same.

That is one cutscene. And you would have to talk to the cinematic director about that, not the concept artist.

What does stereotypical mean? The uniforms are part of their personality, and not all heavy armour users = testosterone filled men. That's a stereotype towards heavy armour users.

Well a lot of games use big badass man with big badass armor. It's not necessary a bad thing but on Kadian is since he's a Biotic.

But Ashley is less forgivable. She's the one that is for those heavy armors but some reason she goes with that outfit.
Bioware could have at least give her decent looking light armor like with Liara in LotSB if they really want to give her light armor.

But what they show is just going backwards. Only hope is that this is just inside Normandy outfit, which time will tell.

That's probably rushed, not dumb.

It is probably rushed, but still looks very dumb for her to go in battle with that outfit.
Thank God for that DLC.

Didn't you notice that half of the crew slept in their armours? In both games.

wut?

I just posted my opinnion on that matter in the previous paragraph.

After all, AP2, is also a product of Bioware's artistic vision, right?

AP2?

I respect artistic vision, but when it's directly contradicting the artistic vision of the writers who created a character, that's a problem.

Ashley's writer has come out and said they didn't like the redesign and felt it conflicted with her character?

Obviously not, but according to how Ashley was written in the first game, she values protection over style in combat.  Do you disagree with that assessment of how she was written?

Problem, that was her two years previous, before facing Saren, before traveling with Shepard, before the destruction of the Normandy, and before becoming a Spectre. People's views change.

So in the past two years, she's decided it's better to look cool, than to be able to function on planets like Noveria?

I hope the writers and artists of ME3 don't change her that way.

Based on what? The screenshots or videos that we have seen so far? That give nothing out about their personality?

Miranda for example, having problems with her? Because she is "daumped daun too seksy ass"? She has one of the fullest personalities that a video game character ever had lately, and her looks serve her personality well.

If you can't overlook past her ass, then that's probably your own problem, and it's just sad when you make fun of the "part of the fan base that her buttocks are designed for", when you are far worse.

Isn't this the main concern here? That Williams' new outfit doesn't fit the personality established in the first game. Oh, yes, it does because people change in two years so fundamentaly it resembles a hit on the cranium.

At least, I, personally, see a change from grunt to hooker a fundamental one.

Wow, the blatant sexism here is off the scale. Maybe you want her in a burka.

Are you saying that giving Miranda actual armor was a bad idea then? Was listening to fans requests such a poor idea in that instance?

Miranda's new armor did not ruin her original vision, nor will giving Ashley proper armor ruin her characters vision.

He is a Sentinel, though. Doesn't the heavy look fit, along with the tech armour?

We already have a tank, James Vega, I am assuming that Ashley is no longer a "tank"

I wouldn't actually have a problem with it, as long she wears a helmet in "space walks".

It is probably rushed, but still looks very dumb for her to go in battle with that outfit.

Yup.

wut?

Half of the squad mates in both games wear heavy armour. At ALL times. Can't be very comfortable inside the ship.

Sounds perfect to me, everyone can get 'iconic' apperances for on the Normandy and they can dress like they're going into batle when they're, well... going into battle.

What, outside of combat?

Yes, a very bad one, it stripped her of most visual personality.

In combat, you know my opinion, the fact that she didn't have a different outfit was that particular part of the game being rushed.

YES! Exaclty! Not heavy or medium armor as she had in the first and second game, but a BURKA. Sharia for all! Allahu Akbar!

Yeah, ME1 was all about functionality - nothing form fitting or sexy about the armor at all.

Yup. Also to the fact that out of the confirmed squaddies, only 3 should be wearing casuals inside the ship (VS, Liara and Vega. Tali obviously wears the same suit all the time and casual Turian clothing look plain horrible :P)

If we get this thread to a substantial amount of pages, the devs will take notice. They can't design an armored Ash in 9 months? And that rump! :o

Right, the tight, form fitting armor that showed off every curve and her breasts was fully functional heavy armor. But wearing her hair down makes her a hooker.

(NOTE THAT THIS IS THREAD 2.0, last one got locked at 90 pages :o)

Hey, you can make a whole person in 9 months. Why not design a suit of armour?

-Give established character a sexed up appearance.

-Draw in Hurp-a-derp COD crowd with ****** and Ass, long time fans rage.

-Offer a more fitting appearance in a $7 DLC pack. Sucker long time fans into buying it.

-Profit.

Now we have a chance to ensure that the same does not happen to Ashley, and we are embracing this opportunity.

I would rather characters stroll around the Normandy fully armed than waltz around the battlefield with a v-neck and vision obscuring hair.

Well there goes the civilized discussion. Valve let the TF2 community design items to be implemented in-game. BW could do something similar. Make it a contest. Pick 3 or 4 armor designs for each squadmate. Give the winners items from the BW store. Everyone's happy.

Her new look as a whole, yes. Just her hair, no; that's just a poor tactical choice.
