Ending of ME3 might be open?

I was thinking... The major objective of ME3 seems ( so far) that it's to eliberate Earth. But it says nothing about the other planets.

So I'm thinking, ME3 won't end with the defeat of the Reapers, just with the Earth's saving from the Reapers.

Why? Well, so far nobody said nothing about the other planets, a galactic fleet gathered could beat the Reapers around Earth ( knowing that the Reapers spread to the other places of the galaxy, so most likely the majority aren't on earth) and the biggest reason: it'd give some sort of "canon" ending and leave the way opened for spin-offs.

If in ME3 you defeat all Reapers, you are left with a lot less ideas for a spin-off.
Also, even thought ME3 might have multiple endings, all succesful endings will have one thing in common: Earth is saved, and that could be the premise of another game in the ME franchise...

What do you think?

It starts on Earth and ends on Earth. You'll be saving other planets in between. Kinda like how you started off in that shopping mall in M1 and ended outside the elevator shaft in that mall.

As long as this ends Shepard's story arc in a satisfying way (So no Shepard gets slapped on a medal yet no one knows what happens to him afterwards) then I'm all for leaving the galaxy in a state of ruin after the defeat of the reapers. There could then be a possible spin later.

However I think I'd prefer ME3 to actually be the end of the series as we know it, with a spin off set in the ME universe but not featuring any characters from ME1 - ME3. Besides, if there is a spin off I'm afraid EA will turn it into a pure shooter anyway, and I (like many ME fans) have no interest in playing a pure shooter.

Edit: Possible ideas for a spin off:

Batarians are angry about not having received help in their fight against the reapers and prepare for payback to attacking far off colonies, but not venturing too near to core worlds for the other races to attack in force. (Kinda like the mandalorian attack on the republic before Kotor 1)

Quarians not happy with the possible alliance with the geth they made during ME3, some conservative and powerfull quarians pushing for taking control of the geth, resulting in a big war (where you'd play as a quarian/geth?)

I dunno, these are just weird ideas on my part.

ME3 will be the end of the Reaper arc as this is the last of Shepards story, I wouldn't worry too much about having spin-offs as Bioware created the ME Universe so there are still a lot of stories to be told in that universe. I doubt they will tell another epic story for a while though unless they go further into the future.

If the shooter was made to same polish and attention to detail like BF3, then those fans might change their minds.

The Reapers better be dead and buried by the end of ME3.

If its open ended, and the whole thing is saving EArth and the Reapers are still kicking around.. I will be pissed.

Because you just know the next one in the series will be full squad shooter and or MMO based on the rest of the Reaper war.

That would depend on if those people like shooters, not everyone who plays Mass Effect do.

Like many people have said, I believe in Bioware one-hundred and ten percent. However, I am worried EA may decide to screw things up... I mean just look at all of their sports games, and their seemingly careless nature towards what the fans want.

I hope they don't Dragon Age us. With the whole "mysteriously vanishes his story may or may not be done".

If they do, I may have to burn the game. Who am I kidding, I so would not do that, but I would be frustrated. :P

Well ME3 is sure to be Shepard`s end of the story and possibly to end of the Reapers, however if they do continue to series I dont mind, but I dont think they should use Shepard anymore. He might have died or gone elsewhere.

What would be interesting to me at least, would be if Bioware continued the universe in some other way, maybe in the future where you play another character who has to stop an even greater threat, or smaller threats like the angry Batarians or the Vorcha`s. Or maybe we could even get to play as one of the minor characters in the ME series, I dont know, but at least the possibilites are there.

IF ME3 doesn't somehow solve the Reaper issue, i will without a doubt do something....do something extremely inconvenient to Bioware. Don't do a DA2 ending Bioware, DON'T DO IT. No matter how much a certain company pressures you, do not end this mighty trilogy with a "EARTH IS SAVED! THATS ALL THAT MATTERS!". Don't do it. Don't leave it open ended for 10 more ME spin offs. End the trilogy. Don't leave the overall goal of Mass Effect unsolved. Don't leave an everlasting taste of feces in my mouth Bioware.
Don't do it.

If they leave it to where the Reapers are still kicking just so they can make a MMO. I will be greatly pissed. I have no interest in wasting my life away playing a MMO. I did that with Diablo II. Iam a console guy now.
