Actually, that's a lot better. But then again, she does already have her own thread where you could express your dislike.DonDaMon wrote...

Wrex told you about the krogan, Garrus about the Turians, Thane about the Drell and Hanar.
You get that impression from Tali because her personal quest also ties into wider issues for her species, unlike Garrus or Thane who have more local problems that don't drag politics in. For Tali, she's significant among the Quarians through her father, and as an insulated race when they're not on a pilgrimage any loyalty mission with narrative bite was going to be on the Migrant fleet.
She does engage emotionally though, the climax of her loyalty mission is one of those that got to me most, and felt like it had lasting consequences. Tali was better drawn in ME2 than in ME1 and she really won me over.
It makes sense in the context of her character to dwell on the problems of her people: she's always confined to an environment suit because of them! I challenge anyone to have to spend their life in a bubble and not to dwell on it!

Important difference.
Well I happen to like Tali, since ME1, due to her personality but also due to the whole quarian "theme"/story. Basically she fit's more to my tastes (as an ingame Li) than the other "girls".
Miranda -> I don't care for ass or boobs getting shoved in my proverbial face. Full of herself.
Jack -> yeah you went through some bad stuff. I know people who were through bad stuff and have huge issues. Theyre not ****s though.
Liara -> She struck me as too young (to be fair so was Tali) and a bit naive in ME1. She also seems too "fluffy" cotton candy like for my tastes.
Ashley -> I just disliked her attitude in ME1... Heck and that I got an earfull for being goddamn unconscious 2 years... (though I didn't have that many options to reply).
Kelly -> she seems fresh/open if you know what I mean. Plus redhead... Whats not to like except for no backstory?
It's a matter of tastes really. As I said the Quarians are just more interesting to me.
Oh... my "thing" for quarians is also tied to the fact that the ME universe is full of racism towards them. Everybody looks down on them and I have a soft spot for the underdogs.
Can't really call any of the others underdogs... Cept maybe the hanar or volus (and yes I want a volus onboard in ME3).

And what's so special about Kal'Reegar? The guy has the personality of a Styro foam cup.
Wait, let me guess. It's because of his voice actor.

Ok I don't get the obsession, but Tali isn't a bad-ass, and that's quite appealing in a ship FULL of badasses... and Joker (but he's just awesome). Tali offers a different type of character, and I appreciate the contrast to Wrex, Ashley, Miranda, Jacob, Garrus, Thane, Zaeed, Legion... in fact almost every other squadmate could be classed as "badass"
Tali can be, but showing more of another side I liked. Fine if you find that meh, but I reckon her being a more vulnerable character AND an LI is why so many people would disagree with you (particularly now Liara is a badass too!)

They should have a geth avatar, it would make more canonical sense.

Krogans and to a high degree turians are born/teached to be warriors/slash bad asses. Those 2 are in a sense just doing what is expected of them. Basically they are the conforming ones in the story.
Personally I think Garrus does it with style though. Wrex to a lesser degree...
In a way I have just as much or more respect for the lovesick poetic krogan on illium. Now theres a guy not afraid of not following what society expects from him.
Tali's is one of the more if not the most outgoing quarian. Seeking out the larger galaxy on a whole other scale than the pilgrimages.
IMHO

Subjective tastes != (not equal) to fact.
Actually this is mostly true for Mass Effect 1- she just talks about her people's history and culture. Kind of like the volus and elcor ambassadors on the Citadel but with more info (although she does briefly mention her parents).
In number 2 however we get the whole 'treason' background and some more of her personal story.

She's my favorite character, besides Liara and Garrus, but I never really got why so many people agree with me.
OT Tali can be a woobie at times but I think that's part of what makes her interesting, to me. People like Grunt, Wrex, Thane, Zaeed and so on are natural killers or raised from birth to be soldiers. Tali has a bit of a civilian mentality, at least at first, which both made her relatable to me and made her abundant character development all the more visibile.

LOL< can we have this version of Tali in ME3...please!
I totally love Tali, but I can say that there are other Characters that are less then appealing and that have nothing more important to say than Tali does, take Samara she only talks about being a Justicar, Miranda only talks about how bad she had it growing up and how perfect she is, Jacob is just plain boring, Name one character that has more to say than Tali? The only character that I found more fun than Tali was Jack, and only because she is so different from everyone else.

Just to get my stab in before the lockdown...
Liara is even less interesting than Tali. Not to say I hate Tali because I dont, I like her personally. My point is that I hope you arent holding someone as lame as Liara as a sort of "standard" on how a female character should be. Because if you are, I seriously disagree with that opinion because I happen to find Liara just as drab as you find Tali to be. If that is not the case, then carry on. It's just that more often than not, the people who hate Tali, are the ones who try and use Liara as some sort of standard on how they should be.

That's got to be the clearest and most concise reason in favour of Tali, that I've read (probably more in other forums, but not that I've seen).tenshi_no_hone wrote...
