I just want to make sure that space walks or hazardous environments that squadmates don't just wear gas masks. That's silly

Completely expected. Why would anyone ever wear a full suit of body armor casually? The whole Reaper attack wasn't exactly expected at the time Ashley was wearing the catsuit.

Working under cover as a prostitute in order to shut down a dangerous smuggling ring?

OMG! Ashley will have armor!

How dare people demand women to wear what they want?! How dare they demand some realism instead of “Rule of Cool”!

How DARE they demand proper combat armor which is suitable in vacuum, battlefield and hazardous environments instead of a catsuit, rebreathers, high heels and cleavage?!

How COULD you listen to these trolls Bioware?! I’m disappoint, I thought you were better than this.

This is PURE sexism and I'm cancelling my pre-order!

If so, I'm smuggler

I can see some people can't handle this gracefully. Perhaps we should just put her in a burlap bag and be done with it.

As long as the armor is optional, that's good. I hope Bioware hasn't buckled under a minute amount of pressure from a small group of people.

I like the suit she's wearing and would prefer that.

I doubt it, they have nine months till game release. They were likely planning this for some time and told people so they'd stop filling the boards with this stuff.

Is it a small group? Did someone conduct a survey or something?

 Wrong team, wrong game series.

Oh, that old chestnut. How many Biowares are there? Oh yeah, one.

With one team doing DA, another doing ME and another working on SW:TOR

Just like Ubisoft had one team working on Prince of Persia and another working on Assassins Creed

I'm guessing you've never worked in software development.

The whole Bioware social network is a small group at that, compared to the total population of Mass Effect players/fans. And smaller group within that group is small, yes.

And you automatically assumed the rest outside this "small group" is in accord with your opinion?

Don't act so smug. They planned this in advance. The bawwwing only caused them to release the info sooner.

You don't know if most people outside BSN prefer casual outfits, but here on BSN most people prefer full armour and everybody knows that.

So, in the 4-5 days since the intital info was released, they decided to do a 180 on their design choices because of a 70 page thread on the forums and a bunch of rabid trolls blowing up Christina Norman's Twitter feed?

Yeah, no.

It depends on what context you're talking about. Something to think about though... these forums represent less than 1% of the ME players. It's an important minority, since we value a lot of the interaction we can have here... but it's still a minority.

this. some of the people in this and the other, now locked thread have got serious entitlement issues. also thinking that harssing devs here or on twitter to get "your point across/get your way" smacks of babies chucking toys out of a pram and should receive the disdain it deserves as a consequence.

Is there some cross over, sure, does that mean what one team does always reflects on another, no. So asking an ME team memeber about a 'the awesome' button makes even less sense than people pestering the gameplay designer about character design.

If your intent was to discuss game design and how the ME team determines a games direction and their goals by asking that question, than you worded it poorly. If instead your goal was to take a shot at Brenon Holmes for pointing out some of the crass comments this board has been subjected too, all you accomplished was providing an example of the kind of posts he's talking about.

that's kinda spurious - you know this because of what? polls that only people with a vested interest take part in? threads with the same?

What ? Really ? Some people believe that  it is their tears that made Bioware change its mind ?  Maybe Bioware has just revealed  what he had planned to do a long time ago. They've said that to appease you and move on. :)

Tweet from Casey Hudson a few minutes ago:

"Ashley will be able to have armor and a helmet in #ME3, as will others. We've only shown very little of the game so far."

Does this mean armour customisation?

In any event, more choices for squadmate armour is a good thing. Some people might appreciate the slimmer armour, others something with more bulk.

Wonderful!!!   <3   Thanks Casey for coming through and letting us know.

Actually what we know is that some prefer Williams' original look as presented in ME1 and ME2, and others prefer her new look.

It's up to BioWare to count the numbers or whatever they wanna do.

Yeah, no.

I think that they did do a 360: they went right back to the thing they were planning on doing the whole time. :P

(You were thinking of a 180.)

Change our stance?

I only mention this because the idea that lots of posts can amount to a specific change in the game is kind of dangerous. It's far more likely that insightful, thoughtful posts will result in direct change.

Normally I would recommend posting that in your and every other devs sigs... but I know in this community that wouldn't make any difference <_<

Nonetheless, I hope you won't completely scrap her sexy design in ME3. I know for a fact that most of those people who want "Realistic" armor on her will just wear it for the first playthrough and every playthrough after will have her wearing that blue suit she has;)

I did a poll and the number of people who favor style over realism and vice versa are about the same. It's just that the people who favor realism/practicality, even at the expense of style, tend to be more vocal about it.

These forums also represent the most hardcore and dedicated fans of the series, Brenon. I know I wouldn't even think of posting here if I had played through ME1 and ME2 no more than once each and put them aside until ME3.
