Aria is where she is right now because she knows when to fight and when to bargain.

That's it. She's a cunning and resourceful businesswoman. Just one that happens to be able to hit you with a biotic punch hard enough to blow a hole in your chest.

Really needed more options for renegades to put her in her place and let her know, if she screws with YOU, she won't be alive to run her empire. Personally, I prefer to work with her, but having no other option except being civil was unfortunate.

Aria just like any of my other allies are expendable resources to be used, tools that can be thrown out once they have outlived there usefulness.

So if I have to humor her or anyone else to secure there loyalty, to defeat the Reapers, so be it. But as soon as they become a hindrance to my mission, I will bring them down.

I want to team up with Kai Leng and take her down. Right before we end her life I'll tell her how I killed Wrex. How I took him out with one bunch and then shot him dead like a feral varren before dumping his body in the swamp. Then Kai Leng will let it slip that it was HE who cut her daughter's throat.

Queen of Omega my ass. She's just another petty gangster.

You are a terrible person.

How could you kill Wrex? Or side with Cerberus?!? ... this makes me a sad panda Posted Image

Aria lets you know that she runs Omega. That's all. She doesn't insult Shepard. She is simply never in awe.

Players need thicker skin.

I kinda agree with this. I don't know why people react as if they are being personally attacked by some of the characters. It's almost disturbing how many people reacted to Ashley/Kaidan's dialogue on Horizon with the urge to kill them off ASAP.

I always felt like Shepard was a second away from killing Aria the whole time. Kind of in a "you don't know who you're messing with" way.

I think Aria is largely misunderstood by people.

IMO her reaction to Shepard's arrival on Omega is one of fear, pure and simple. If Shepard presented no threat then she wouldn't bother even meeting him, let alone going to such lengths to try to intimidate him.

Aria is the queen of a bunch of low life scum with no training and very little money. Just look at her "palace" - it's hardly the Presidium. Shepard is more than a match for her, and she knows it.

I agree with this. That was my opinoin. When she says, and shifts in her seat, "I'm curious, but Omega isnt interested in you" its a blantant, please dont be my enemy statement. She is just putting him down in order to slite him a little. She is also trying to distance Omega and Shepard a little.

Also when she sends him those cordinates its kindof a way of her trying to buy him off a little. Even though she knows its not a big cashe she knows it could save her trouble in the future with shep.

I like the way you think.

I think there will always be a portion of the fanbase that is delighted when someone defies or challenges Shepard. They seem to like it when Shepard is turned down by Samara, or Shepard is dumped by Jacob. They like it when someone can hold their own against the "Super Shep," or prove that they are not afraid, or even impressed.

At the same time, there will always be a portion of the fanbase that is irritated when Shepard's ego is made to suffer, and Shepard's ego is made to suffer when he/she first meets Aria. They desire to say, "B*tch, I ain't afraid o' you," yet all they can say is, "I like it! Easy to remember." They must submit, even though they do not see Shepard as submissive.

Inevitably, both portions of the fanbase may be irritated by the other.

I don't get irritated by any fanbase, what disappoints me however is not being given the dialogue option to say what my Shepard would say in that situation. Especially when I am clearly given the same option in other situations, it strips the immersion of the character and forces me to suspend disbelief as my character does something he would not, rather than be part of the game.

And I completely understand that. It is always irritating when the dialogue option you want to take isn't there. People can rationalize that Shepard was merely being pragmatic, and that antagonizing Aria would have gained nothing, but this does not negate the feeling that your Shepard is being hijacked somewhat, and someone is imposing a thought process that may or may not be in character for your Shepard.

Indeed, the same could probably be said for every interaction with TIM up until the very end though. You were never actually given the option to tell him to drop dead, ignore his orders or anything. It was almost as if he was mindcontrolling me :P I already got that in another game but it worked in that game ^^

Ah, well, you're talking to someone who was unable to (until the very end) roleplay a single TIM conversation as a Shepard she considered to be in-character, so... :P

But when it comes to Aria, when she said, "Don't **** with Aria," all I wanted to say in respnose was a dry, "Is that so?"

And when I was being scanned and Shepard said "Try it, you'll be scanning the inside of your colon" and Aria telling me its not optional, I would have loved to just have...scanned the inside of his colon, or left and just hacked her computer or something for the information. Just so I didn't HAVE to deal with her, cause honestly all she really did was tell me where to go...I threatened the dude at the elevator and I got my own way to Garrus with the mercenaries...She really didn't do anything.

Oh look this again. Aria runs Omega and has a lot of power in the Terminus Systems. As Shepard, you're on her turf. How about just dealing with it instead of going "Ah how dare she insult Shepard-san?!?!"

You don't know how right you are. After Shepard said that, he/she also should have said "I'm not impressed. I am not here to massage your ego so lets get to business. "

Aria is smarter than she looks. All people with power know the value of strong allies, I think Aria can use Shepard and Shepard can use Aria. I value her.

I'm kind of sketchy about Aria being a possible ally. Although her resources are pretty significant because she is the "queen of omega", her loyalties with her business partners can be questionable. In Mass Effect: Retribution (which takes place after the events of ME 2), TIM, under dire circumstances, enlists the aid of Aria and in return, he supplies her with a wealth of information. In short, they seem to be in league with each other. If there are friendly connections with TIM and Cerberus, I wouldn't immediately trust that person, even if that person's connection is trying to kill you.

It has nothing to do with her not bowing, I'm fine with her being a ****. It has much more to do with the lack of options in how to respond to that.

I don't have a problem with Aria, but I felt like she was all talk. I'd like to see proof that she's the force to be reckoned with she claims to be. All we see is posturing for the most part, or her standing around while someone else does her dirty work (I know she was in one of the books, but I haven't read them).

Granted, I'm of the opinion that she's Aleena, so being evenly matched with Wrex gains her some respect, but I'd like to see her show some of these skills she claims to have... Otherwise I'll just have to imagine she's gone soft after a few decades of sitting on a couch like a lump.
