Well I had this weird idea that just popped in my head so the Kinect wouldnt be just a gimmick. So I was thinking what would make me wanna get the Kinect and use it with ME3 and this idea sparked. You know what would do it would be to allow us to move Shepard while on the Normandy so we could make Shepard dance and stuff. I mean its when we are in the Normandy is when we do most of the screwy stuff and allowing us to dance "so-to-speak" with Shepard would be pretty awesome. Anyways when we use the Kinect in the game, why would we want to just use it for voice command, thought the purpose of it was to be the controller

What we know of the Kinect for ME3 they could do with the add of the mic so both versions get voice command if you have a mic. I mean I know they said its not a gimmick but if that was the case than we should be able to move with Shepard using the Kinect too.  Like I said the point of the Kinect was to be the controller.

See this is the kind of thing we want developers to do.
But no. We get reading the dialog options out loud instead.

Yeah stuff they could add by allowing us to use a mic than both versions get this. As far as I am concerned its a gimmick and I know they say the Kinect add wasnt but we can see pass that and see that its a gimmick.
I mean if its not a gimmick than what i stated in the first post should be possible, the point of the Kinect was to be the controller not to be a voice command unit. I dont need a video from the Kinect showing me sitting on my couch talking to my TV lol.

I am changing the topic name to better reflect the point lol

And it would be better than in ME2 because it would be Kinect enchanced

Kinect in this game is gonna be a gimmick indeed. And unless they haven't shown everything they're gonna do with it I'm not gonna change my mind. Use it to choose dialogue? I think moving the analogue stick and pressing a button is way faster. Use it to direct squaddies? I'd rather pause the game and direct them calmly with my controller.

I'm a PC gamer so I'm used to playing, squad placement, and squad power usage without pausing. I think the 360 has one squad power mapped, right? I also have the game on the 360 but never played it, I only playing the 360 demo. I didn't like all the pausing I did with the 360 demo. With Kinect, looks like you have access to multiple squad powers easily. That alone makes it worth it.

But more than that, I think being able to call out instructions, and move your squad while in the heat of battle by voice can make you feel more "in the battle." That's immersion. I'm getting the PC CE, but I may eventually get the 360 version also just because of voice command (if the reviews for Kinect support is positive).

I see this as a baby step in a cool direction. Imagine a future iteration of this technology where the main character's lips sync with our voice while using a controller to select tone or topic. We could be our own voice actors.

I usualy hate it when people make negative comments and try to get a thread closed but, I REALLY don't want Shepard to be see-through.....and stuff.....so.....NO.
Sorry.
Although, regarding the Kinect presentation at E3, It was absolute garbage in my opinion.
Every time Shepard would say something, the responce or comment would just be so predictable. I mean they take away the RPG and the story, and now we cant even have clever and life like dialogue anymore? Poo i say, just Poo!

Agree it could evolve into a very interesting place. But as for now, it's just not fun. You say one thing and then Shep says another with his own voice. Breaks any cool 'you voice your own character!' immersion concept completly.

As an xbox user i hate only being able to map 2 squadmate powers to the controller. Having access to all squaddie powers without having to pause is actually quite appealing to me. Don't know if i can bring myself to buy a kinect but it's the first time i've been tempted.

I see it as voicing what Shepard is saying in his head.  Just as you think one thing, but say something slightly different.

It's hardly gonna be a small vocal difference between most players' voices and Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale's. This voicing feature could be a return to pre-voiced PCs era in some way, but it's one way or another. Mixing player and voice actor voices doesn't work.

And you can still select dialog with the controller even if you have kinect. I don't see having the option negates what it can bring to battle immersion.

haha didn't think about that. Yet another reason why Shep voice shouldn't play at all if you're saying the lines yourself

I hope Bioware was paying attention at E3 and not just worried about what they were doing/showing...the "gunsmith" feature for GR:FW looked awesome! Since we are not getting the game until next March, I hope that they can find the time to add a feature like this for the weapon modding in ME 3.

it is a gimmick you can do everything they showed with just a regualr mic.

but it seems like they want to intergrate it into the galaxy map and other things like the codex.
