I'm trying to install and patch NWN Platinum on my new laptop and I'm struggling to get to patch 1.69

The Auto-update won't go past v1.63 - it just tells me to use the critical rebuild. So I download the massive 325MB of the HotU Critical Rebuild and try to update, but it just says that this patch cannot be used on the current version of NWN.

I've searched high and low and can't seem to find any other threads that mention this particular problem.

Any help?

thought one: try to redownload the patch maybe its badly downloaded? (not very likely but give it a shot)

though two: try to download 64,65,66,67,68 critical rebuilds and try to instlal them in particular order first so you will be pdating from 68 to 69

Is your game still in the same folder you installed it to from the disk?

what you need to do is install the game from the disk, then run the patch on the disk, and then run the 1.69 patch.

huh? I'm saying I can't patch it at all; it just says that it's incompatable

Unless you have the Diamond or Platinum, where a patch exists on the DVD which you need to run, you'll be unable to update at all.

You could try http://nwn.bioware.c...glish.html#crit though and run it manually. If it still does not work, you have to wait until Bioware puts back everything that was taken down from the old legacy site.

O.K. anybody, I am getting frustrated with this. I am running windows 7, I had to reinstall neverwinter nights. I know it will not run on patch 1.69. But when I tried to install patch 1.68 on to the original 1.63 it says not capable of patching this version, although the patch 1.69 worked great, but now how do I find the 1.69 to 1.68 patch and why haven't BIOWARE not fix this issue with windows 7 yet, it's been over a year now.

I just re-installed nwn (deluxe, can't find my old skool CD Keys) for a new PW that looks interesting and ran the critical 1.69 update and everything works in Windows 7 (compatibility mode - XP SP3.) Thanks to Fester Pot for the link (although it auto-redirects to a download rather than the old site with the link which seems to be broken.)

Very happy now and waiting for Border Kingdoms to open the doors!

Guide to Installing NWN1 for Win7 .These methods will work with any windows OS and there's a direct link to the patch there as well.

I am not a tech person by a long shot. I was trying to update NWN platinum but it won't work. I've been reading and trying things but I still can't get it to update, and I would love to play this again esp. since I'm on an old computer now due to a major storm a few weeks back taking out my other computer.

Raesha, I don't have NWN Platinum, so I may not be able to give much specific advice. But, I'd bet those who are more familiar with installing that version might be able to help more if they knew a few more details. For example, what version of Windows are you running? What version of the game are you at after the initial install? What exactly are you trying when you update it? What happens when you do (e.g. what error messages pop up)? Maybe with some specifics of your setup and what you are seeing (and what you are seeing go wrong), someone will have some ideas.
