Duke Nukem Forever would make her head explode.

Ahaha, I would pay to see her rage over it :D
That said, I agree DNF is childish and I hate the whole "babe manly man" stuff...plus, considering it's been like 15years the game looks pretty...mediocre?

This is a tough topic. I might agree with the blogger if Bioware had created shallow, brainless female characters in ME2, but they didn't. Each one has her own story and personality. Also, as an artist, I can understand their desire to embellish the human form. There needs to be a balance, and admittedly, high-heel shoes and miles of cleavage ( and I do love cleavage ) does not belong when women are in battle.

"Woman? No boobies if there are boobies then that's not fair! Sexy ladies!? That is an outrage! We are are more then boobies and butts. *cry cry cry* "

What feminist think about hot men the media.
"Hot man? That's perfect! Moar sexy man butts!"

She wrote " But then you finally meet her mother – Matriarch Benezia" ... "I’m confronted with massive cleavage." .... It was one of the most ... anti-immersive moments".

I just lol'd... she stopped being immersed inside the game when she saw Benezia because I think she was jealous :D. So what, she wanted all NPC to be small breasted ? Because it's not true IRL... it would not be immersive :D.

I want to blog. <sigh> I have a degree in fine arts.

I'm female I don't think she was talking total crap. There are bits and pieces that I agree with and a some I don't.

The first time I met Jack I didn't care for her as a character. But she is actually one of the best written characters, imo, and the way they have her look fits the character they developed. Do I like the tattoos and the leather breast covers, not so much, and I tend to agree she had to use body glue to make them stay put, but think they work for her character and they certainly don't bother me, for that reason.

Samara's outfit, well again, she has to use body glue to keep her boobs from popping out, but on the other hand, if I looked like that at 1000 or 75 I'd be tempted to wear an outfit like that too.

I totally agree about the camera angles they use on the female characters. Ass and boobs galore and the only "dancers" all look female. Unless I was missing them I don't remember too many guy crouch shots and maybe they think women aren't interested in tight butts or Chippendale dancers. I'd say they are wrong.

I agree with her that they could have and should have included more females wondering around the Citadel or some other city. I always found it strange that out of all the different alien races the only female looking ones were the Assari who technically are all the same, the Quarians and humans.

We know Turians have females in their military so there should have been some wandering around. Maybe there were and we just couldn't tell the difference, but it would have been nice if someone had mentioned that to Shepard. Yes, they came up with reasons for most of them staying on their home planets and I assume their main concern was cost and I can accept it, but it is something that has always stood out as a small lack.

But with these issues, BioWare is still my favorite game company because I can play a woman like Shepard or Hawke and the way they portray their female NPC's. They are strong, capable and will fight along side me not wait till someone else saves them from danger. More DLC clothing options is always a help when there is a disagreement on how someone should dress.

I was knocked out of my trance when I saw benezia, but that was because I thought she looked like the ****ty-haloween costume version of evil queen from Sleeping Beauty which looked stupid next to everything else. I think she just got the same thing but she automaticallyput a feminist spin on it.

Jack really isn't made with fanservice in mind. Most men don't consider bald women covered with tattoos to be very sexy - granted, I do, but I'm in a minority. She wasn't created with hotness in mind.

i agree with you, most people wouldnt find a full body tattoo women a sexual symbol.... but i also do feela tracted to her.... O.o

but back on subject lmbo, did this lady who wrote this complaining about too much female exposure also write an article about metal gear solid series? cuz snake and raiden are both wearing skin tight cloths most of the game.... and there are sexeral scenes where there are 'naked', and butt shots of these male leads... so should a 'maleist' (idk what you call it :/ ) complain about MGS having too much fansurvice for females?

in my opinion idk if theres fansurvices in an action game, but it really does emphisise that the female charecters (males too) have a strong aura about them...... i eman if you saw some chick killing husks, geth, gangsters, and other evil aliens WHILE wearing spandex (or a shoe lace outfit) wouldnt you think shes more bad**** then some girl in a raincoat? -.-

I work in a professional office where 75% of the work-force are women. These are women with university degrees. Many of professional designations. And many dress to flaunt it. Oh, I wouldn't say they dress badly but they are certainly proud of their physiques and show it off.

We have a few young guys with amazing physiques too, who wear pretty form fitting clothing as well so its not entirely a one-way street.

I will confess that i didn't like the way Miranda dressed. Samara I didn't quite get either. I thought Jack was totally in character, however. On the other foot, Jacob was just a male Miranda, so the eye candy was offered both ways.

Where did this torrent of HATE come from? Hello people, it's ok to disagree, but it's not ok to insult people out of nowhere.

I will never understand why it is anti-feminist if a woman is dressed sexy? And is proud of their bodies and flaunt it.

Feminism is about social equality between the genders. When men and women respect each other as equals, society becomes better as a whole. When women work with men, I hope that men respect a woman's intelligence; as much I respect a man's intelligence. As a woman, I do not wish to be devalued, or be told I can't do certain things because of my gender. The game visually exploited characters like Miranda and Samara with cheap camera angles. It didn't have to--you can take them at face value because they are well written strong women. I liked these characters so don't think this is a hate Miranda/Samara post, but it was painful talking to Miranda in particular because I thought they should have treated her better.

I don't see why they could not treat them as well as they did with Female Shepard. She's a cipher, but she's a good example of what Bioware had always done before; in BG all the way to JE. Why were Miranda and Samara treated differently?

That being said, there are some very bad representations of male characters in games. Looking at Ryu in Street Fighter, and observing the always angry Kratos in God of War makes me shiver. There is no way an actual man can look like Ryu without massive steroid use, and Kratos has just way too many family/violence/macho issues to be realistic. A much more satisfying reflection is Nathan Drake because he's a good guy, and respects his friends both male and female.

Wow, BSN. I really have no love for feminists, but you guys and girls are being pretty damn harsh. I thought it was one of the most reasonable and well balanced feminist rants I've read in a long time.

Feminists are not evil they are just doing it wrong, completely. They want to wear a pink revealing dress and be
treated equally and not be viewed as sex objects. It doesnt work like that.

I'm a woman, and as a woman, I never underestimate the power of good posture and carefully considered skin exposure. I wear snug clothes, I wear low-cut tops, and yet I'm no one's doormat. If being "feminist" means dressing in shapeless clothes and walking like a truck driver, NO THANKS.

I'm so tired of people ragging on Samara. For all that she looks sexy, she's probably the least sexual in the game after Mordin. Conversely, her sexual predator daughter Morinth wears a basic asari commando jumpsuit that shows zero skin. I kind of liked that dichotomy.

The blogger is right. Miranda for Dat as.s, Samara for the bubz and Jack for being a tattooed wild b!tch. And their appearances affects their personalities (makes them trivial) Image IPB

Pretty much, All of the art was pretty clearly designed to try to rope in hormone crazed teens. People wonder why videogames aren't considered art or considered worthwhile by the public at large. The visual design of Miranda and Jack are pretty huge clues as to why.

Just for the record, that whole "But Miranda's the perfect woman!!!" defense, it doesn't work. There's no agreed upon perfect appearance for a woman, and to be honest, a woman with Miranda's shape would be considered freakish in the real world. To get those attributes, you're talking freakishly anorexically thin with about 20 lbs of silicon between her boobs and her butt. Barbie isn't that disproportionate.

Honestly, every time I saw Miranda and Jack I thought to myself, "Now here is a man who has never seen or spoken to a woman in his entire life", because they're just so blatantly designed to be sex objects there's no way that artist can ever have been around a woman without being hit.

Heh, they probably aren't the ones in pink revealing outfits. This topic will reach a point where someone will likely say females are designed 'by nature' to be sexual objects. And that's the crux.

I think there have been some attempts to rectify that, like the LotSB videos of Jacob working out shirtless, though it isn't as intense as the sideboob going on.

I agree with her that they could have and should have included more females wondering around the Citadel or some other city. I always found it strange that out of all the different alien races the only female looking ones were the Assari who technically are all the same, the Quarians and humans.

Totally Agreed. Turians are always depicted as being this highly disciplined militaristic society that allows a high level of personal choice so long as you do your duty. And since everyone serves and the lore depicts female turians as just as competent fighters as males we should see some female turian millitary personel.
