I'm a woman, and as a woman, I never underestimate the power of good posture and carefully considered skin exposure. I wear snug clothes, I wear low-cut tops, and yet I'm no one's doormat. If being "feminist" means dressing in shapeless clothes and walking like a truck driver, NO THANKS.

I'm so tired of people ragging on Samara. For all that she looks sexy, she's probably the least sexual in the game after Mordin. Conversely, her sexual predator daughter Morinth wears a basic asari commando jumpsuit that shows zero skin. I kind of liked that dichotomy.

ically thin with about 20 lbs of silicon between her boobs and her butt. Barbie isn't that disproportionate.

Honestly, every time I saw Miranda and Jack I thought to myself, "Now here is a man who has never seen or spoken to a woman in his entire life", because they're just so blatantly designed to be sex objects there's no way that artist can ever have been around a woman without being hit.

Well, I find turians hot and human males in Bioware games also hot. Mass Effect armors for guys show great butts too, not to mention Jacob without shirt, all those human males perfectly fitted, those muscles, those arms, the nice camera showing us Garrus backside when he walks to Shepard in his recruitment mission...

Sex sells, but in both ways. I don't see a way only, here.

I will never understand why it is anti-feminist if a woman is dressed sexy? And is proud of their bodies and flaunt it.

Perhaps because "feminists" aren't a homogenous faceless mass who all think alike ? The current "s.lutwalk" demos pretty much have the "it's okay to be sexy" message and are considered to be pretty much feminist.

Feminists are not evil they are just doing it wrong, completely. They want to wear a pink revealing dress and be
treated equally and not be viewed as sex objects. It doesnt work like that.

I agree with (almost) everything she said, despite not having any love for feminists or feminist causes. She's pretty spot-on. The design of Miranda, Jack, and Samara is frankly, irritating.

Heh, they probably aren't the ones in pink revealing outfits. This topic will reach a point where someone will likely say females are designed 'by nature' to be sexual objects. And that's the crux.

No, females are not designed to be sexual objects, its nurture. As a male I like equal women, BUT in order to be
treated equally you have to actually be equal, in other words act the same on many levels. It doesnt work differently.

Miranda is sickly looking, in all honestly. Her proportions are so off that she's firmly in the uncanny valley to me. Samara's mode of dress is irritating, but less of an issue than Miranda.

I do not find Jack to be overtly sexualized, though.

Wow, BSN. I really have no love for feminists, but you guys and girls are being pretty damn harsh. I thought it was one of the most reasonable and well balanced feminist rants I've read in a long time.

I have found that women can get pretty irate when people tell them they should dress in a certain way. Personally, I'm grateful when someone tells me how to dress because my fashion sense is awful.

But with these issues, BioWare is still my favorite game company because I can play a woman like Shepard or Hawke and the way they portray their female NPC's. They are strong, capable and will fight along side me not wait till someone else saves them from danger. More DLC clothing options is always a help when there is a disagreement on how someone should dress.

Is there another company named Bioware?  Because this one just writes women who might be able to fight,  but are all waiting for some man to come along and solve their problems for them,  then they just fall right over into bed.

Ok,  yes,  I'm exagerrating...a little bit.  Occasionally you get a Tali,  Liara,  or the girl in KotOR,  but for the most part,  that's most of their women.  The rest all have some secret inner issue that they just can't get over,  until Male X comes in and solves it in 4 seconds making their world perfect.

DLC isn't a solution when the artist thinks his job is to compete for the "Most unrealistic rack and the amount of screen time it was given" award.

I disagree. Feminism, as stated in my post, has many incarnations, and while you may be opposed to some people under the feminist banner, I'm pretty sure you at least agree that women should be allowed to participate in politics and should have equal treatment under the laws.

As I said, I work with a few very attractive women who dress somewhat provocatively. I have zero problem taking them seriously because they are damn good at their job and not taking them seriously only means I fail.

However, I admit that it can be distracting. And when I was younger, those women could manipulate the hell out of me (which may have even been their intention!).

I find the moment something (or someone) is called 'crypto-fascist' rather like when Godwin appears... funny that.

Bioware is simply delivering romance tropes.

Guys get the cheerleader, damaged goods, the hero worshipper.
The ladies get the good guy, the bad boy, and the tragic figure.

Ah yes, "feminists", we have dismissed these claims.

Somewhere, some blogger will take issue with anything, no matter what it is.

Bioware is by no means the worst offender. I dare say they are held to a higher standard than other game makers because of their emphasis on character and story. Basically, I'm going to give them some slack on this.

I'd agree with you except for two things.  First, Male X can also be Female X.  The protagonist of the Bioware games can be a strong woman, too.  Secondly, every companion is waiting for someone to solve their problem.  Garrus, Jacob, Sten, Allistair, and Carth(how I hate him) jsut toname a few.

This woman is crazy. simple as that.

Femenism, worst class I've ever taken. 23 students, 18 women, 5 men, I was the only guy left after 6 weeks. Yeah I'm all for women having respect and equal treatment, but just from the relations in that class and not the social aspects I was forced to take part in, its a hopeless mess. Even the professor, who edited Ms. said so. The "movement" is a joke as it is now. Lower and middle class women fighting with upper class women, extreme racial issues and don't get started on the transgender issues are just the beginning. There is a reason why sterotypes exist for it and I'm a living witness.

But god help a man being attracted to a woman. I like Samara's refined look, Miranda's crazy curves and Jack being just crazy and a social renegade is awesome.

And the Jacob pic wouldn't mean anything to her, if you know what I mean.

Feminism has never been about equality. The clue is in the name: feminism.

That said, having skim-read some of what she wrote I find myself totally agreeing with her.

Spot on. It has always been about female privilege.
