I thought you could just modify the "other modifier" box in the Statistics Tab for the creature, but I can't.   I know I could make an item that decreases the attack bonus and give it to the creature, but I'm wondering if there is a more direct way.  I suppose I could script it too, but I was looking for something easier.

I also don't want to drop its strength too much.  It's a giant and when it hits, it needs to do some damage, I just don't want it to hit too much because then the PC dies... a lot...

I usually lower the strength (not what you said you want to do) and/or lower the level for a quick fix without scripting or custom item. Not sure if there is a better way.

I do not think there's a way to lower BAB without scripts while keeping strength/class level high enough.

You might lower his strength down and then give his weapon +10 damage or whatever. Just flag it as non-drop and then give the giant a second club with more proper stats in inventory for the players to loot.

Are you trying to decrease actual AB or the number of attacks? I know there's a variable you can you set to override the number of attacks...though there's also an Effect you can use for this.

I can't find the variable right now, but the Effect is EffectModifyAttacks. The new attack schedule won't show on the creature's character sheet, but it will have the desired effect.

The variable to modify the number of attacks is: X2_L_NUMBER_OF_ATTACKS

Set it to the number of attacks you want(I believe it cannot go higher than 5). Set it on the creature's variable menu.

Sorry, wasn't clear enough. I want to change the Attack Bonus, although knowing how to alter the #of attacks is also very helpful.

I ended up just giving the giant an item with a -5 BAB penalty.
