Any chance someone would take up the task of making some decent DnD style Orcs?  The LotR style ones are cool, but don't fit in a DnD world. The NWN Orc version looks like gumby. It would be great to see Orcs like some of these pics. We have gotten some great goblinoid reskins, great Ogre reskins, undead reskins, along with lots of others.  Maybe someone can add great Orc reskins to the list.

Personally, I think Wizards went too cartoonish years ago, each creature has been made to look like it came from a cheap comic book aimed at 4 year olds. Too many "toons", not enough "creature" or "horror" whatever.

Neverwinter Nights Enhanced contains quite a few Orcs modeled after 3e illustrations (even one straight out of the Monster Manual). There are 9 female and 14 male in that set of haks. Project Q contains some excellent Orc models though I think those would be more fitting for Jungle Orcs according to their description in Unearthed Arcana.

I looked through the screenshots on the Q website and only saw LotR style Orcs.  Are there other Orcs they aren't showing in the screenshots?  I'll check out NWN enhanced also.  Thanks for the info.

When you mentioned LotR Orcs, I thought you were referencing the Baba Yaga / Diademus / Worm Uruks and Orc models on his Improved Creatures entry on the vault that Worm uses in his Arbor Falls module (as those closely resemble the Orcs in the films to me and there is a scrrenshot of them on the Creature Override Compilation .

If you meant the gorilla looking models in Q (I don't know of any other Orc model additions as of 1.3), I didn't see those as LotR Orcs. Unearthed Arcana describles Jungle Orcs as very primal and ape like, hence why I stated that I felt they fit.

If we weren't on the same page, then my apologies.

Either way, it seems by your description you would be more interested in those found in Neverwinter Nights Enhanced, as they are specifically 3e in appearance. Unfortunately I don't know of any screens of them.

Those are the ones I meant. Thanks for that; I was searching for that exact page to update my comment when you sent that and it would beat a 150mb download of NWNE just to get them.

As you can see, there are plenty and I quite like the Eye of Gruumsh and the one that resembles a Battle Priest. I also use the black armored crowned one for Obould Many-Arrows.

EDIT: On second thought, the NWNE versions have been modified with more 3e looking heads (which I use) than these, which appear to have the standard BioWare heads. I suppose it's all a matter of preference.

I'm really interested in seeing those Orcs with more 3e looking heads. I'll try and see if I can get to them. Don't suppose you could take a couple of toolset screenshots could you? :)

wow, those look great! i have to say i agree about the Standard Orcish look, they looked sluggish and as if they were made in a hurry (and being a modeler part time, i know a thing or two about making things look good).

Thats why i opted for the LOTR apperance, because they appealed to me more. But these... ill switch with anyday and anytime :3 nicely done!

At work, unfortunately, but I had apparently lost track of what came from where in my own mergers. It would appear that NWNE and Ancarian's are the same models, heads and all, but somewhere along the lines I came across models that were Ancarian's bodies with Pstemarie's heads (from the orcs he just posted) and those were the ones I used to merge. When I get home I'm going to have to dig around, unless someone has some idea where I might have found these composites.

Edit: Now I remember. The NWNE Patch updates contained the upgraded models. That was driving me nuts.

Anyone from the Bioware NWN development team reading along? You know those people you were paying that made those gumby Orcs.......Well this is what they should have been doing!! (But really Bioware, thanks for the great game though ;))

These are great. :o :D Thanks so much for putting these up.  Like I said, the Lord of the Rings versions are really good.  But I would rather have good DnD  style Orcs in my DnD world.

To end your confusion once and for all...Image IPB Ancarian originally made some nice reskinned orcs and posted them to the Vault. Cervantes and I added Ancarians orcs to NwnE, then in the very next NwnE patch I took Senemenelas' orc head (from NWN2) and slapped them on Ancarian's bodies.

Finally, while developing content for NwnE - which was never released - I decided to take the orcs back to ground zero and work a whole new model using Baba Yaga's bandit legs, the DLA ogre, and Sen's orc head. I also tacked on a few details and textures from other models by _Six, LoW, and BioWare.  What you see in the screenshot above is the final result.

Watch that Vault listing too - I just found a bunch of bugbears Image IPB

I mentioned watching those movies once that I thought they would make good DnD hobgoblins. I think that is how I will use them too.
