It'll be interesting to see.

Harbinger will likely be more powerful than Sovereign. I expect to at some point see Harbinger wipe out one of our most powerful ships like its a gnat.

On this note, I find it odd that no one has mentioned, nor inquired about Harbinger in ME3... I mean, I guess it's kind of a given, but I'd be curious for a confirmation on his status among the Reapers and if he's at the assault on Earth...

Yeah there will be weaker versions but I doubt they will be too weaker...they'll still be very powerful

I would hope that the hundreds of Reaper that are coming will be weaker than Sovereign. Hopefully only less than 100 of them are as powerful as Sovereign or more powerful to keep the challenge up. Harbinger included because he seems to be the boss of all Reapers. To be honest, even with the galaxy teamed up together: The Rachni, Systems Alliance, Asari, Turians, Krogan, Shadowbroker, Salarians, Quarians, etc all working together and even with the best upgrades I think we'll only manage to destroy a little more than maybe 60% of the Reaper fleet. Sure, it will be a major crush on their side, but that's not to say that we will take major casualties as well. Knowing how strong Reapers can be, it's really going to be a hard fight. There has to be a game changer that the galaxy has in store.. something that can pull us through. Finding that something is going to be hard. I'll be surprised if we stand a chance and happen to destroy the Reapers even without a special weapon.

I think the others will be weaker than sovereign. Soveren was a lone wolf tasked with begining the reaper invasion so its likely he was one of the more powerfull reapers who had the confidence of all the other reapers. Aswell in the game play video the reaper was almost taken out by 1-2 orbital strikes where as sovereign took the fire from both the turian fleet and the alliance fleet before being taken out.

The real question is how do you stop a race of beings that powerful?

It won't be as simple as "point macguffin and shoot".  BioWare will find a more subtle solution.

My theory is in relation to the Tali recruitment mission from ME2.  The sun is dying too early and they can't figure out why.  Well a reaper is a powerful machine.  Powerful machines require lots of energy.  Can you think of anyting more powerful than a sun?

Shepard and company will spend the duration of ME3 chasing down a way to cut off the Reaper power supply while simultaneosly recruiting allies to launch a misdirection counterattack to keep them busy and keep there power usage as high as possible.

Come on people lets cut the power.

Hmmm interesting thread, I assume Sovereign was one of the more powerful reapers and I am guessing he would be high in the reaper hierarchy (though it is doubtful there is a hierarchy among the reapers), I am guessing Harbinger is similar in terms of power and "rank" among the reapers but I get a feeling there might one or two that were even more powerful. But overall I would say Sovereign was probably more powerful than the average reaper since I would believe the reapers would want one of the stronger reapers left behind as the vanguard in case anything went wrong like it did in this case. One of those littler reapers would have had no chance and Sovereign almost pulled it off.

Maybe, in some cases, those smaller and bigger Reapers are actually, in a way, a single Reaper. I mean, Sovereign could multitask, fighting both the Alliance fleet as well as Shepard in a huskified Saren at the same time. One mind, controlling many bodies, all the way up to the "Master" Reaper for a particular species.

Not sure about that but if you are saying what I think you are saying (multiple reapers made from same species) then it is possible.  Though I wonder how many members of a species it takes to make a larger reaper like sovereign.

Maybe I am in a minority (well as far as these forums go anyway) but I actualy enjoyed Harbinger's battle taunts.

Well I hope Harbinger is a big bad Reaper like Sovereign so his taunts would actually be backed up lol.

I liked it at the end of arrival when Shepard is trying to use that communication array and Harbinger's hologram showed  up with him in his reaper form.  I actualy felt that  was pretty intimidating knowing that the reapers were physically getting close at that point.  (arrival is best played post SM)

It makes sense that the one ship designated to stay behind (Sovereign) would be a more independently designed reaper. Kinda like how Legion is special among the Geth.
So yeah maybe your standard reaper isn't as overwhelmingly awesome as Sovereign.

This is how I see it too.

They better be tougher than Sovereign! If anyone knows how to kill a Reaper it's Shepard, and he wouldn't fire a machine gun to kill something unless he thought it would work.

When Sovereign faced the joint Alliance and Council Fleets in ME1 they weren't even able to damage him. Only when Shepard defeated Saren, and Sovereign's shields dropped, were they able to take Sovereign down. I hope the majority of Reapers are like Sovereign and not lackeys to be beaten by hand-held weapons.

Most of the Reapers are supposedly smaller than Sovereign, who was 2k long. Not only that, but they've been traveling for 3 years. There must have been some reason for them to wait to use the Citadel relay instead of just flying. Maybe they have less power than a ship like Sovereign that has access to power supplies inside of the galaxy instead of outside. Any ideas?

I think they used a ton of energy just getting to the Milky Way, and that will most likely help us defeat them.

Am I the only one hoping that Harbringer isn't the final boss, but just one of the bosses? It would be cool seeing if there really is something or someone higher up than him.

Sovereign and Harbinger were dreadnought sized ships. I think most of these are too imo.Since they all look unique.Allthough im just basing that off the Reapers attacking earth all looing the same and are smaller.

I believe - in a lot of ways - the Reapers are already defeated.

As someone mentioned - they always launch a sneak attack to destroy the leaders of galactic civilization (who have, out of design or luck, always congregated at the Citadel). This threw the Protheans into disarray and they STILL managed to come up with some of the key solutions to the Reaper problem.

Now - the cycle is broken (thanks to Protheans + Shepard) - and the Reapers are attacking the galaxy the "hard" way.

The longer the Reapers are held on Earth - the longer the entire galaxy has to band together to destroy the Reapers. The battle is already decided - even if it weren't a game and Shepard weren't a wish fulfillment PC character.

The Reapers have never committed to their harvesting in this fashion. They're arrogant and all powerful. They lost the citadel and the mass relays. Reaper technology is falling into the hands of the organics left and right. They lost a massive portion of their ground forces (the Heretic geth) and while Husks are scary... they were never efficient enough in mass numbers to stop Shepard and two allies.

They're not going to be pushovers... they are giant machines riding inside giant cuttlefish ships, which is of course very intimidating. But even if Shepard were to be dead by ME 2... he already defeated the Reapers.

===

On a note of final bosses. I hope there is a final fight... but no final boss fight. I hope it's mass scale war against the Reaper armies... and the further you advance, the further the Alliance army advances with you... until you finally chase the few remaining Reapers into space where the entire galaxy is waiting to blast them into all-powerful alien cuttlefish space dust.

Sovereign will always be the coolest Reaper for me. Just walking into that room and suddenly realizing that the person you've been chasing the entire game is nothing compared to the real threat.

The entire galaxy was literally hours from being wiped out.

Epic.

Harbinger is a good antagonist though. I love the line he gives Shepard as they are escaping the collector base in ME2

"Shepard, your species has the attention of those infinitely your greater."

I hope Harbinger is the first to die.... and that the other Reapers don't have his "FEAR ME I AM A GENERIC VILLAIN FROM THE 80s" attitude
