Congratulations, Williams.
So you've just been made a Spectre.
This entitles you to walking around the galaxy with a license to kill. Too bad that is all it entitles you to. Protecting the galaxy is a tough job, especially when the Citadel provides you with absolutely no resources to do so with.
The cool spectre gear? You gotta buy that yourself.
Need to get around? Hope you can mooch a ride with your ex-boyfriend, because the Citadel provides absolutely nothing by way of ship or transport.

What you need is Spectre Financial Service. We offer the finest in short term loans and low Interest ship financing.
Speak to a local representative today and receive a 20% discount for our Certified Quality Pre-Owned Weapon Rentals.

Are you hiring? I've been pretty down on my luck since the McDonalds I owned over on Zakera ward was shot up by geth, and then looted by a gang of obese batarians

Huh, the trailers out of E3 made it pretty clear to me that the Alliance took the Normandy away from Shepard and gave it to Williams. Considering that, and the way she stabs you in the heart on Horizon, is it too much to ask that I get the chance to push her off the ramp when she comes to pick me up from the besieged Earth?

Hold on a minute. You mean to tell me, she left him, took his ride AND his job?

Well when I go and do my paragon play through I certainly hope Kaiden doesn't do what we're all speculating Ashley of doing. The council couldn't have possibly sent a spectre to help Shepard escape and or save the galaxy. Nope certainly not.

I've seen said E3 trailers and all we got was one scene that had Williams shooting at husks. But yeah that definatley means the Alliance gave her the ship. Thats diffinitive proof right there. But yeah lets worry about the liuetenant and not the other commander (yeah Kaiden got a promotion) who was also made spectre. No conflict of intrest there.

Hey lets think outside the box for a second. Yeah the Alliance took the SR2 and slapped there logo on it but no where in any trailer we saw any proof of the VS having leadership of the Normandy. Lets wait for more *facts* to come out before we wildly speculate.

... No way! NO FREAKING WAY is she taking the Normandy from Shepard! She gets on her ignorant soapbox and bashes Shep for joining Cerberus and then steals his/her flagship (provided by Cerberus) that has pretty much been synonymous with Shepard throughout two games!? Nooooo! Nooooo! Does not compute!

What's next? Because he joined Cerberus, is Joker getting kicked out of the pilot seat? Hmm? What about Chakwas? Is she getting kick-banned as well? EDI? Will EDI be getting downloaded into a potato and replaced with an Alliance VI? And what about Gabby and Ken? Kelly? Will they be getting the boot? Gee, thanks, Alliance. You doomed humanity by being ignorant, bashing Shepard's name, denied the evidence, ignored the fact that he saved many colonies throughout the traverse, and now you want to steal his/her ship???

I'm REALLY hoping that isn't the case. I like Ashley, but she is NOT taking Shep's ship! I'm hoping Hackett and Anderson still have enough influence to keep Shepard as the Normandy's captain. Shepard answering to someone on his/her own ship? Still doesn't compute...

Mordin: "Spectres based off the Salarian STG. We were better funded though. *chuckles*  Didn't have to buy our own weapons.

Who needs a spectre financial service when you can just poke around in crates, right? ;)

I don't quite get why Shepard is seen as an Alliance soldier by so many - he hasn't been one since becoming a Spectre. His rank and N7-style armour only have sentimental value - especially after having been declared KIA. ME2 also doesn't leave much room for his status/allegiance - either he is a Spectre or a rogue operative working for Cerberus. A loyal Alliance soldier would report back for duty at the nearest Alliance HQ as soon as possible - Shepard did not do that in ME2. Either way, the Normandy SR2 is Shepard's and his alone. It was built specifically for him by Cerberus, and unless the Alliance says otherwise, they didn't have their hands in it. Meaning they incriminate themselves either way. Either they admit to working with Cerberus and therefore deceiving the Council, or they steal/illegitimately seize private property.
Anyway - Shepard does not answer to the Alliance (Tali's loyalty mission: "Technically I'm not even part of the Alliance."). As a Spectre he answers to the Council and as a rogue operative he answers to no one - as long as he doesn't get caught by any authority. Even then he would probably be tried at a Citadel tribunal.

To the topic: My VS is Kaidan and the only action he has seen was on Eden Prime and on Virmire, where he had the extremely difficult task of pressing a red button. Why the hell is he called a hero by several NPCs? Twiddling his thumbs and plundering the ships aspirin supplies was all he ever did! In addition to that, he is completely incompetent - using his assault rifle against the small collector bugs instead of his oh-so-high-spiking-L2-biotics? Ridiculous.

Now he gets rewarded by being named Spectre (what a laugh) and commander of the Normandy (what an OUTRAGE)?
No. My Shepard won't tolerate that. He was able to condone Kaidan's impudence on Horizon - just that once. The slightest misstep and the VS will meet with an unfortunate accident while on airlock-maintenance-duty.

As I said - my Shepard doesn't answer to the Alliance, and the Normandy is his. EDI, Joker, Kelly and the other crew members (if they still are the same) are loyal to him - not some wannabe-upstart-Spectre. If possible, he will remove all Alliance symbols etc. from the ship.

The VS will not be tolerated as CO - not even XO. He will be nothing in my Shepards eyes, and his quarters will either be a sleeping pod, or Jack's old cot. All other rooms are reserved for people who deserve it.

Kaidan and Ashley are basically intercheangable (Ashley is slightly worse - being a mere grunt... Spectre? HAH! How deserved..!).
Of course, the reader's VS might have been a very active and productive member of the crew - feel free to have a different view...
One more thing - Ashley's new hairstyle will probably get her killed. Not being able to see what's to her left isn't exactly beneficial in a firefight.

Conclusion of this "rant":
That good-for-nothing, freeloading, impudent wannabe-upstart-Spectre should really try to get by without help. Would probably end up like Lia'Vael - having to eat crappy food and wishing/hoping to be able to buy a ship one day...

sorry but i think he was listed MIA which would make him still in the allience and they state in ME1 that you may be a SPECTRE but your still an Alience Marine as exhibited by Hackett giving you missions in the first game

That's my ship... all I have to do is say one thing...

"EDI, open all hatches to space"

"Now come pick me up."

Better not take my ship from me... might have to head back to Ilos and fix me up a Cryotank so I can take the break I've been deserving for 2 years while the Reapers harvest.

I do agree on the financing but ME2 did say you do get council discounts for being a spectre which I believe it is like 20% off the RRP (Recommended Retail Price)

But with people mentioning that Shepherd is no longer the commanding officer on the normandy.

I very much doubt this I can imagine if anything it is actually Captain Anderson or for a temporary basis ran by your former squad mate.

I think Captain Anderson will put you in command and no matter what Ashley/Kaidan will have to give up command if the head of the admiral navy says so because in the end it is an alliance vessel not a council vessel.

and plus I would feel more confident of defeating the reapers with shepherd leading than ashley or kaidan.

@Eldan Varen.

SHEPARD. WAS. DEAD.

FOR TWO YEARS!

A lot can happen in two years. Mostly likely the VS did something badass to earn their Spectre status, and Anderson assigned them to make sure the Normandy wasn't destroyed by the Reapers, and to be around when Shepard needed a pick up.

From the way Shepard calls in an airstrike on the Geth base, it's apparent that he IS in command of the Normandy. VS is probably XO, and why? Because two Spectre's are better than one.

If you insist on looking at it from a meta-gaming perspective then do so, but bear in mind that the VS had none of the insider knowledge that Shepard had.
